Taouz is a region of Morocco that produces vanadinite crystals that are typically more orange in color compared to the vibrant red specimens of the famed Mibladen region to the north. This specimen has saturated orange to orange-red hexagonal tablet crystals liberally covering a dusty black botryoidal matrix. Shiny darker black spires with botryoidal surfaces  surround the edges, making this a dramatic Halloween mineral specimen.

I was told that the black matrix is goethite, a relatively common iron oxide mineral, but I suspect it is actually a mixture of several similar-appearing minerals in the iron and manganese oxide families (including goethite, coronadite, and pyrolusite). This one is especially complex and appears to involve three different minerals, but it would take more advanced analysis to confirm the true content.

'Oxide' means that the metallic element of the mineral's chemical compound has oxidized like rust as the mineral eroded over geologic time. This transforms the rock into a new material that is commonly a warm tone of red, orange, yellow, brown, or black.

The near-black botryoidal mass is an aggregate of spheres with radial structure inside. Broken edges expose some layers to be composed of silvery needles radiating out. Some surface layers are quite soft; handling the mineral will leave black smudges on your skin and surfaces.

Nothing is Chew Proof, but these do pretty well
My three 2-year-old Dutch Shepherds have killed every toy except their Kong balls. These octopus toys are hanging in there. My dogs are particularly driven by wiggling the appendages - They LOVE it. My Sheba who normally kills toys immediately has not yet destroyed her octopus. She's been holding it like a teddy bear, that is after she's worn out from throwing it around. I've thrown them in the washing machine and they come out great.

My pup really loves this toy!
I think they are adorable. and my pup loves them! We have a golden puppy and she loves to chew and play with her toys. This is one of her favorite toys. She enjoys tugging at the legs and making the squeaker squeck! I love my puppy and she loves this and I highly recommend these!

Not good for aggressive chewers
This product does not stand up to aggressive chewing. My bulldog had it for about an hour before the legs disappeared.

Worth it if your dog destroys plush toys & likes to chew
Color: Cyan NylonFish
My dog is a very big chewer and destroyer of toys. This toy is perfect for her. It is durable and keeps her engaged chewing for a while. I have a 55lb dog, considered a large dog, and it’s a great size for her. She’s unable to break it apart. The ends do tend to get a little sharp after extended use

My Boston loves this fish toy
Color: Cyan NylonFish
Very durable. It takes a couple of months of intense chewing to make holes in this toy. My Boston has incredible mouth strength so he destroys most toys in minutes unless they are rocks. I have replaced this fish 2 times in the last year. I keep an eye on the wear and replace it when he makes a hole in it. Worthwhile purchase but monitor the dogs chewing.
