Read all about a Ben Hecht-style upbringing; fooling an experienced casting director; the historic ÔBrides in the BathÕ murders; visualising a script; Ingrid Pitt on Lady Macbeth; professional fall-outs; getting Ôthe gigÕ on ITC action-adventure shows; the funny side of ÔPsychoÕ, Edgar Allan Poe awards; Lew Grade ÔdealsÕ; libraries and florists; a Guinness with Max Wall in Brighton; attacks on the nerves; creaking old houses and Truman Capote inspiring a notable film project with Mia Farrow.
Planned as a formal interview to explore screenwriter Brian ClemensÕ thoughts and recollections as to his masterful anthology series ÔTHRILLERÕ, the resulting conversation soon evolved into a freewheeling, even barnstorming, discussion on such topics as ShakespeareÕs construction of his narratives and the startling effects of Kelly McGillis in a hayloft on Harrison Ford, all to be taken with a hearty slice of ÔRabbit PieÕ!
Join me herein for an unexpurgated, fully annotated and indexed; witty and informative ÔrideÕ with a British television icon - featuring a foreword by BrianÕs son Samuel Clemens and some choice bonus material. Watch out for a Hitchcockian switch!
