Volume I and II cover the authorÕs FatherÕs beginnings (Cottrell and Lashbrook Lines). Volume III and IV cover the author's Mother's beginnings (Brashear and Campbell Lines). Sources are extensively documented. Timeline and ancestor charts are also included as well an Òall nameÓ index for each volume that provides page number references for each individual found in the respective volume. This volume (Volume II) traces the author's Lashbrook ancestry to John Lashbrooke who was born in England. John's son William Lashbrooke, the author's fifth great-grandfather, who was born in Meeth in Devon, England on 17 October 1717, was the first Lashbrook in the author's lineage to immigrate to the New World and settle in Prince William County, Virginia.
