This renowned Datejust is in a great condition, and features one of the most classic dials available, the silver pie pan. At first glance, the hour markers on this dial appear to be stick ones, but closer inspection reveals that each marker has a V cut straight down the middle, which reflects the light in a way that turns half of the index

Once again we were able to find one of the all time classics, a beautiful vintage Rolex Datejust, reference 1601. This renowned Datejust is in a great condition, and features one of the most classic dials available, the silver pie-pan. At first glance, the hour-markers on this dial appear to be stick ones, but closer inspection reveals that each marker has a V cut straight down the middle, which reflects the light in a way that turns half of the index virtually dark, boosting legibility. The overall watch is in a very good condition with all four lugs equally shaped and sharp, and a solid 18k white gold fluted bezel.

This 1601 Datejust is paired with its original 6251 folded Jubilee bracelet and the original 55 end-links – the Jubilee remains in a very good condition with little stretch and a clean Oyster clasp with the Rolex coronet still nice and crispy. The dial color is silver, but in certain lighting conditions it tends to lighten up and almost shows a mat chalk finish, something which is evident in some of the photo’s above, especially in the wrist-shot photo. It is also worth mentioning the this pie-pan dial is absolutely flawless with zero marks, moist or water damage, and the Tritium dots are all present and accounted for – something which is not at all obvious with these four-digit Datejust models that are over 50 years old.
