About the Flag
"Namibia flag consists of a thick red stripe that extends from the lower-left corner to the upper right corner on the waving side and divides the flag into two parts, and the triangle formed by this strip in the upper left and right lower part.
The ribbon that divides the flag diagonally in red represents the heroic behavior of the people and the common will for a good and equal future for all. While the blue sky that gives its color to the upper left symbolizes the ocean, its rivers and its rain with its rich water resources, the green color to the lower right indicates the flora and fertility of the country.
The white color separating the red strip from the blue and green sections with a thin strip represents unity and peace together. In the middle of the blue area in the upper left part, there is a 12-beam yellow sun near the transmitter. While the sun symbolizes life and the joy of life, 12 rays express ethnic groups in the country.
The main colors of the present Namibia flag are actually taken from the flag of the South West African People’s Organization, the country’s most important liberation movement. This flag was adopted in 1971 and consisted of horizontal lines of blue-red-green, the most important colors of Ovambo, the country’s largest ethnic population." (source: mappr)
