Plant Care
Light: Loves bright light, ideally full sun for part of the day. Outdoors in spring/summer is perfect. Indoors, a super bright window is a must.
Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist—not soggy, not bone dry. Water thoroughly when the top feels dry, especially during growing season. Less water in winter, but don’t let it totally dry out.
Temperature: Likes the seasons! It needs a cool dormant period in winter. Hardy to around -10°C if roots are protected—think sheltered outdoor spot or cold greenhouse.
Potting: A free-draining bonsai mix is essential. Repot every 2–3 years in early spring before new growth begins.
Hot tips: This one drops its needles in autumn—don’t panic! It’s totally normal. Give it time and it’ll leaf out beautifully again in spring.
