Eighteen months on from his last new release, Vancouver-based singer / composer Ian William Craig returns to FatCat with an (album-length) EPof eleven brand new tracks. Entitled Thresholder, the record sees Craig return towards the smudged and scoured beauty of his 2016 opus, Centres, a record which was universally acclaimed, making many end-of-year lists - including the likes of Rolling Stone, Uncut, The Wire, The Quie-tus, The 405 and Drowned In Sound. For Craig the focus of the album was a great boundlessness of space, the sound of the big bang, the spookiness of the quantum world, and vacillations of different kinds ofcon-flicting time. Besides as the often-quoted William Basinski reference point, the music here recalls the visceral media-decay of early '00s operators like Fennesz, Belong, Desormais, Philip Jeck or Pimmon. "Idea for Contradiction 2"Is like a massively over-driven or sandpaper-scoured version of Brian Eno's "An Ending"or some shredded Colin Stetson stem. The ending of"And Therefore the Moonlight" - is reminiscent of Sigur Rós (who are fans and recently invited Ian to play their NorðurogNiður festival in Reykjavik); while "Sfumato" exists in the same dimension as The Caretaker's haunted ballroom with it's reverb-drenched and occluded distant vocals.

Great & very convenient charger, only one issue

This charger wound up being everything I hoped for - it charges a Galaxy S26 fast and works with a wireless charger compatible phone case. Despite all this, I'm taking a star off for the fact that *you have to buy an aftermarket converter* for it, because for some ridiculous reason, its cable end isn't a USB type A (which your previous phone's converters and probably many of your home's outlets use), but requires a 30W (no less) USB-C. So, there goes another $10 for the converter. Actually you'll probably want to buy two, for at least two rooms at your home, so there goes another $20.

Absolute trash.

Neither charger worked on arrival... Quite disappointed. Now I'm steering away from every item that has the same markings. Just shelling out for a better quality charger... Not worth it at all... It's incredibly irritating having 2 DoA chargers... Tried on 5 different phones and 10 different blocks.

Charges slowly and makes phone/charger really hot.

I thought these would be great, but they aren't. I use them with a 25w charging block, but they charger my iPhone so slowly! I can't really use the phone for any games or even scrolling TikTok while the charger is on it because the phone uses power faster than these mag-chargers can charge the phone. The phone also overheats when this charger is on it.
Never had that problem with a lightning charger.
Basically these are only good when you won't be using the phone, and it takes a long time. Not very happy with them.
