ARK’s Smiley Face Chewmoji® Necklace is sure to put a smile on your face!  The double-sided disc pendant features a big grin smiley on one side (indented) and a cool sunglasses smiley on the other side (raised) for different visual and tactile interest.  At just under 5.08cm in diameter, it's a great option for those who prefer chewing with their pre-molars and/or front teeth (for more slender options that reach the back molars, see other ARK chewelry).  Use this oral sensory solution as a safe alternative to chewing on pencils, shirts, fingers, etc. and to help calm, focus, and self-regulate.

ARK's Smiley Face comes in 3 Colour-coded toughness levels:

  • Magenta, Red, Dark Blue, or Yellow = Standard, this is the softest Smiley option (the chewiest level, but still firm) recommended for mild chewing
  • Lime Green, Teal, or Hot Pink = XT (firmer), for moderate chewing
  • Blue, Lavender, Orange, or Forest Green = XXT (the most firm), for those who like to chew on fairly firm items.  It's also the longest lasting level for avid chewing.

Details:

  • Each pendant is sold individually with its own breakaway necklace cord
  • Designed, manufactured, and assembled in the USA by ARK Therapeutic
  • Each pendant is medical grade, FDA compliant, and contains NO lead, phthalates, PVC, BPA, or latex
  • Each pendant measures approximately 4.83cm in diameter and 7.62mm thick.
  • The cord measures approximately 91.44cm in length.
  • If desired, you can shorten the cord by scooting the thread out of the clasp, retying the knot at a shorter length, and then trimming the excess thread.
  • Highly recommended for individuals who have Autism, sensory needs, anxiety, ADHD, etc, or for anyone of any age who needs to chew.

**Please note:  because of its wider shape, each toughness level of the Smiley Face may feel tougher than the same toughness level in one of our more slender shapes.  So for example, if you like the Krypto-Bite™ in the middle XT level, you may want to "size down" to the soft level in this wider shape.

Caution: This product is not a toy. The clasp and cord are not intended for chewing. Contains small parts that may pose a choking hazard. Not recommended for children under 5 years.  Although these chew tools are sturdy and durable, no chew tool is indestructible.  Wear/tear may be expected given the nature of the intended use.  How long they last is typically equal to the amount and intensity of the chewing, as well as other variables (such as jaw strength, stress/anxiety levels, if other sensory strategies are in place, etc.).  While for some people a chew tool will last forever, for others with heavy/aggressive oral needs, they may go through it very quickly.  Please supervise at all times and replace if necessary if the item shows signs of wear and tear.  For the longest lasting chew tool for avid chewing, see ARK's Y-Chew XXT.

It's How Wars End That Become Important Afterward
Format: Paperback
The twentiety century taught us a lot about wars and how they end. World War I showed us that making strong demands on the defeated (who didn't admit defeat to their own people) set the stage for the next big war. World War II was fought until the Unconditional Surrender of the Germans and Japanese. Something that thinkers still debate as having made them fight all that harder. VietNam was fought with no clear end in sight, and "another VietNam" entered our language. The first Gulf War was ended when Colin Powell and Bush II debated how to end the war. They stopped before they had to go in and see what the Sunni's, Shiite's and Kurds made of the power vacuum left by the removal of Saddam would have created. Bush II is learning about this now. This is the second revised edition of this book, originally published in 1971 and then updated in 1991 and now 2005 to reflect happenings in new wars. Still some of the old wars had interesting insights that I didn't know before, such as how Finland, originally on Germany's side against Russia, made a peace with Russia and kicked the Germans out before they became a Russian province. Great Book.

Complementary readings
Format: Paperback
There are already three good reviews so I will only suggest reading the following books instead of, or in addition to, this peculiar work: a) "War in human civilization" by Azar Gat; b) "War before Civilization. The Myth of the Peaceful Savage", by Lawrence Keeley; c) "How War Began" by Keith F. Otterbein; d) "War and Peace and War: The Rise and Fall of Empires" by Peter Turchin; and e) "War and the Law of Nations: A General History" by Stephen Neff.

Excellent short-book analysis
Format: Paperback
This short book is an outstanding analysis of how nations end wars, or accept peace. Ikle shows how governments often prefer obviously self-destructive courses rather then compromise peace terms. The problem is most acute when factional interests dominate strategy rather then a rational unitary interest. In such a circumstance, factions that benefit from continuing the war will accuse those pursuing peace of treason. Sadly, there is no equivalent derogatory word in English for those who pursue war to the detriment of their country. The book was first written in 1971, and most of the examples are from the two world wars. The work is still extremely relevant, and at 130 pages it's well worth the time. Highly recommended as a first book to read on ending war.
