The Art of Football is a singular look at early college football art and illustrations. This collection contains more than two hundred images, many rare or previously unpublished, from a variety of sources, including artists Winslow Homer, Edward Penfield, J. C. Leyendecker, Frederic Remington, Charles Dana Gibson, George Bellows, and many others.

Along with the rich art that captured the essence of football during its early period, Michael Oriard provides a historical context for the images and for football during this period, showing that from the beginning it was perceived more as a test of courage and training in manliness than simply an athletic endeavor. Oriard's analysis shows how these early artists had to work out for themselves--and for readers--what in the new game should be highlighted and how it should appear on the page or canvas. The Art of Football takes modern readers back to the day when players themselves were new to the sport, and illustrators had to show the public what the new game of football was. Oriard demonstrates how artists focused on football's dual nature as a grueling sport to be played and as a social event and spectacle to be watched.

Through its illustrations and words The Art of Football gives readers an engaging look at the earliest depictions of the game and the origins of the United States as a football nation.

Stylish, comfortable, and a great price.
Size: 11, Color: Dark/Blue, Size: 11, Color: Dark/Blue
Can't beat the quality at this price. This is my 2nd pair, my last pair (in brown) lasting almost 3 years as a work shoe in a dusty warehouse. Nice and light. Fitment is true to size. Very good looking and comfortable shoe. I suggest insoles as the soles are a little thin and can be rough on a bad back. And they squeak on the floor after they age. But again, for the price you can't beat these shoes. Did, would, and will buy again.

Exceptionally comfortable and stylish. Great with casual slacks or jeans. If you have a casual work space or casual Fridays, these will be great. Good support. Good fit. Sizes are accurate.

Nice shoe, sizing information on this review
Size: 9, Color: Grey, Size: 9, Color: Grey
Ok, let's talk Breeze Mesh Sneakers by Bruno Marc (Grey)...... Firstly, they are nicely stylish appearance wise. They are lightweight (which I like). They feel comfortable and easy to walk in. I have not owned them very long, so I can't inform you on long term wear or how they feel after months of use. I own many pairs of shoes, mostly running type shoes. I needed a pair like these to wear in a more formal situation. Maybe with some dress pants or nice jeans. Now let's discuss the SIZING which is very important to me. Without a good fit, your shoes will never feel right when wearing. I normally wear size 9 in Men's. I seen someone mention that they 'run small'. I can do 9.5 in those situations, so I ordered 9.5. When they arrived and I tried them on, it was obvious they were too big. too much toe room in front. So I returned them for my normal size which is 9 Men's. Much better. AND, i still have toe room in front (no tightness). My suggestion to you is to order your normal size. The shoes feel like quality shoes and I feel that are a good purchase (for the price). The shoes came quickly. Bruno Marc is a good overall shoe. Hope this information helps.
