Product Overview

The Centrex 2000 system is designed for medium to heavy seasonal or light residential use, offering extended composting cycles and the capacity to handle larger waste volumes compared to the Centrex 1000 system. Featuring an increased surface area in the evaporating chamber and a larger heating element, electric units provide improved evaporation efficiency. This system is compatible with one or more Ultra Low Flush toilets, sold separately, and can be converted to AC/DC power using an optional kit.

Why This Product Makes Sense

Properties with moderate to heavier seasonal or light residential use require composting systems capable of managing greater volumes while maintaining effective composting processes over longer periods. The Centrex 2000 addresses these demands by increasing surface area and heating capacity, enhancing evaporation rates which are essential for maintaining balance and reducing maintenance frequency.

Improved evaporation reduces moisture accumulation, a common challenge in composting systems that can affect efficiency and user experience. This design feature provides a practical advantage for owners relying on electric units, where evaporation management plays a key role in maintaining system health.

Compatibility with Ultra Low Flush toilets simplifies component selection and ensures the system operates cohesively. This clarity helps buyers avoid uncertainty when assembling their composting setup.

The availability of an AC/DC conversion kit adds flexibility, enabling adaptation to different power environments or future changes without the need to replace the entire system. This versatility supports long-term planning and evolving site conditions.

The Centrex 2000 system offers a balance of capacity, evaporation efficiency, and adaptability, making it a practical choice for properties with specific occupancy and usage patterns that exceed lighter seasonal demands.

Choosing a system that matches real-world use reduces the risk of underperformance or unnecessary maintenance, helping buyers feel confident in their decision.

What To Expect From It

In operation, the Centrex 2000 system supports longer composting cycles and higher waste volumes, suited to medium to heavy seasonal or light residential use. Its design improves evaporation efficiency through a larger evaporating chamber and heating element in electric models.

The system functions reliably when paired with Ultra Low Flush toilets, providing a cohesive and manageable composting solution.

Maintenance cycles align with seasonal occupancy, supporting a balance between usage and upkeep that reduces intervention frequency.

The AC/DC conversion option offers added adaptability for changing power needs or site configurations, extending the system’s lifespan.

Ownership involves managing compost capacity with an understanding of property use patterns, allowing the system to perform optimally within its design parameters.

Fit considerations focus on occupancy levels and waste volumes, ensuring the Centrex 2000 integrates well where medium to heavy seasonal or light residential use is expected.

If you only buy one technical computer book, this is it
Format: Paperback
Disclaimer: I owned the first edition for years and read it a dozen times, mainly for pleasure since it’s not only informative but also just enjoyable to read. I’m a professional software architect and have dozens of textbooks on computer science and engineering so I’ve been around the block. This is the kind of book I would buy all for all my friends (if I had more than a couple) and family members (if they were even slightly into computers, which they aren’t sadly). Petzold does an exceptional job at describing digital logic and guides you through building a conceptual CPU from very first principles. I think his bottom up approach is the way to go and has helped me understand complex topics in an extremely simple way. When I’m not reading fiction, this is my go to bedtime reading. The second edition has about 100 more pages than the first and some content has been completely reworked and it’s great. If you ever had even a passing interest in knowing how computers work at a very fundamental level, get this book!

First programmer?
Format: Paperback
As an ardent reader of the past 1st edition, I was fairly excited to get the latest version. That is, until I encountered the history chapter of the new edition. For one thing, what I do NOT understand in this second edition is the newly added description of August Ada Byron (countless of Lovelace). The author claims it was Babbage who was the first programmer to design the engines, not Ada. I am not trying to start a futile argument here about who has more or fewer contributions, etc. What I am trying to assert here is that it is undisputed that Ada (unless the new evidence arises) left *the very first demonstration* of what this seemingly imaginary machine, which didn't even physically exist, was capable of through her program. Because Babbage designed the engine itself, that doesn't automatically put him in the position of a programmer (despite Babbage being a brilliant engineer/scientist and may have had a simple or detailed program in his mind). However, it was Ada who gave a definite touch to programming concepts that ultimately led to modern-day programming. Ada deserves more recognition than a mere "tutorial writer," and she is certainly entitled to the title she deserves. Other than that, like the previous edition, this book is a must-read for people who are from related/unrelated fields. I always loved the 1st edition, and I would do too with the 2nd. Still, I think history should always be approached with more care, particularly if matters have potential controversies.

One of the few books worth your time
Format: Paperback
If you want to learn computers, start here. Learning from a historical perspective removes complexity of trying to start with say GPUs - you learn just like computer engineers did, incrementally.

An absolutely brilliant book
Format: Paperback
This is an amazing book for the right kind of reader. It's a lot like Euclid's Elements but for computers as it leads the reader through designing a computer from first principles and builds to the point of creating software and adding peripherals. It's an amazingly clear but slightly challenging read. I have given this book as a gift many many times. It's an absolute classic in my opinion.

Great introduction to Godot 4
Format: Kindle
I've been writing various types of software for 10 years and was interested in learning Godot for 2D games. This book turned out to be informative and easy to follow and gave me the knowledge I was seeking. I learn best by example, and this project focused book was excellent in that regard. If you have zero programming experience, I would recommend learning something like Python before diving into this book. The book teaches with GDScript, which is Godot's Python-like programming language. There are some minor mistakes in the book, but an errata is currently being kept up-to-date on the github repository for the book. I opened a few issues for things I discovered, and the author added those things to the errata. Keep this in mind if you end up getting stuck on something and are 100% sure you followed the directions in the book. I use Unreal for 3D games, so I have not yet gone through the chapters of this book for 3D games. I wouldn't expect a drastic drop in quality, but for the purposes of this review I can't give any insight on the 3D chapters.
