Manufactured by Adidas, the shirt was worn across the 1997/98 and 1998/99 seasons. It features a subtle tonal jacquard pattern woven into the white stripes, embroidered club crest, oversized Newcastle Brown Ale sponsor and the signature three stripes running down the sleeves. The long-sleeve version is particularly sought after by collectors, closely matching what many players wore during the colder months at St James' Park.
Alan Shearer had returned to his hometown club in 1996 for a then world-record transfer fee and quickly became the face of Newcastle United. Wearing the famous number 9 shirt, he continued to establish himself as one of the Premier League's most clinical strikers, combining powerful finishing, aerial dominance and exceptional leadership. Shearer would go on to become the Premier League's all-time leading goalscorer with 260 goals, cementing his legendary status in English football.
