The HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 562FLR-SFP+ adapter delivers a high-performance, energy-efficient networking solution for HPE ProLiant Gen8 servers. Designed as a FlexibleLOM (FoLOM) module, this two-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter integrates a single, advanced chipset to provide robust, scalable connectivity in a compact form factor. By leveraging SFP+ technology, it supports versatile 10Gb connections that are ideal for demanding workloads such as virtualization, high-transaction databases, cloud-based applications, and dense data-center deployments. The 562FLR-SFP+ is engineered to reduce power consumption while still delivering the bandwidth required for today’s multi-tenant, multi-VM environments, helping to lower total cost of ownership without compromising performance. Specifically engineered for HPE ProLiant Gen8 Rack and Scale-Out servers, this adapter simplifies deployment within existing HPE ecosystems and aligns with HPE’s proven management and firmware stack for reliability and ease of use.

  • The adapter provides two independent 10Gb Ethernet ports via SFP+ interfaces, enabling parallel, high-bandwidth network paths for virtualized servers, clustered storage, and data-intensive workloads. This dual-port design supports link aggregation, fault tolerance, and scalable network architectures, allowing IT teams to segment traffic for storage, management, and compute while maintaining strong performance across applications.
  • Featuring a single-chip FlexibleLOM design, the 562FLR-SFP+ streamlines the NIC architecture to minimize power draw and heat generation. This efficiency is critical for dense data centers where cooling and energy costs are a concern. The streamlined design also contributes to a smaller overall footprint within the server’s networking subsystem, freeing up space for other components and improving airflow within the chassis.
  • Built for HPE ProLiant Gen8 Rack and Scale-Out servers, the adapter is optimized for seamless integration with HP’s server firmware, drivers, and management tooling. IT teams benefit from consistent hardware compatibility, simpler BIOS/firmware interoperability, and unified support pathways through HPE’s software ecosystem, reducing integration friction and accelerating deployment timelines.
  • Reliability and manageability are core considerations, with the 562FLR-SFP+ designed to work within the HPE management framework. The module supports standard networking features expected in enterprise environments, including compatibility with common operating systems and virtualization platforms, as well as monitoring and fault-detection capabilities that help administrators identify issues quickly and maintain service levels.
  • Flexible cabling options are another strength: two SFP+ ports that support a range of 10Gb transceivers or direct-attach cables (DACs). This flexibility enables organizations to tailor their cabling strategy to their data-center topology—whether fiber fiber-optic links for longer distances or short, cost-effective DACs for rack-to-rack connections—while maintaining high throughput and low latency across workloads.

Technical Details of HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-Port 562FLR-SFP+ Adapter

  • Form factor: FlexibleLOM (FoLOM) single-chip solution designed for plug-in deployment within supported HPE servers
  • Ports: 2 x SFP+ 10Gb Ethernet ports for flexible, high-speed network connectivity
  • Performance: Dual 10Gb Ethernet links enabling high-bandwidth workloads, virtualization, and storage networking with potential for link aggregation
  • Power and cooling: Optimized to reduce power consumption per two-port configuration, supporting energy-efficient deployment in dense data center environments
  • Compatibility and support: Engineered for HPE ProLiant Gen8 Rack and Scale-Out servers with reception by HP’s driver and firmware ecosystem to ensure compatibility and stable operation across supported operating systems

how to install HPE Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 562FLR-SFP+ Adapter

  • Prepare the server: Verify that your HPE ProLiant Gen8 system supports a FlexibleLOM module and that you have the appropriate slot access and service documentation. Power down the server and disconnect it from any power sources to begin installation safely.
  • Remove existing networking hardware if upgrading: If you are replacing a previous LOM or NIC module, carefully detach it according to HP’s maintenance procedures, noting connector orientations and any locking mechanisms that secure the module in place.
  • Install the 562FLR-SFP+ FoLOM module: Align the adapter with the FlexibleLOM slot in the server and firmly seat it to ensure proper electrical contact. Engage any retention latches or screws as required by your server model to secure the module in position.
  • Connect SFP+ transceivers or Direct Attach Cables (DACs): Depending on your network design, install compatible 10Gb SFP+ transceivers for fiber links or attach DACs for short-range copper connections. Ensure the cabling is properly routed to avoid strain and that all ports are accessible from the desired network segments.
  • Power on and complete configuration: Boot the server and install or update the appropriate NIC drivers and management software from HP’s support site. In your operating system or virtualization platform, configure the two 10Gb NICs as needed (static or dynamic IP configuration, VLAN tagging, and any NIC teaming or bonding policies). Validate connectivity with test traffic and monitor for any alerts via HP’s management tools or the operating system’s networking utilities.

Frequently asked questions

A great read for those who want in depth knowledge about MS Active Directory & related services
Format: Paperback
Reviewer: 20 yrs training and consulting experience with Windows Server, Exchange Server, Active Directory, all major hypervisors, and cloud services. Active Directory along with all the related services and features are complex and many faceted topics. Books showing step by step examples are easy to come by, although not very useful since there’s plenty of Microsoft online help with the same info. What’s more important is to understand the features and related services and how to use them properly and securely. This book covers in great detail Active Directory and the related services and features. There’s also plenty of information and expertise from a security perspective. With the move to cloud services and more employees are working from home there’s a whole new level of security issues to contend with. This book contains lots of in-depth explanations that allow you to understand why certain features and services exist and how to use them. This extra depth and the author’s experience is what makes this book special. I would recommend this book for IT Professionals that already have some AD knowledge and experience. My only qualification is that I occasionally found some of the explanations confusing even after reading them over a several times. I would highly recommend this book for those who wish to understand, configure and design an AD infrastructure along with associated services including OU design, group policy, object management delegation, ADFS, Certificate Services, etc. Although the book is not about Azure AD it does cover some aspects including integrating with on-prem AD.

Detailed coverage of Active Directory
Format: Kindle
I spent several years very close to active directory but haven’t followed developments in recent years. I was interested in this book as a refresher on what’s new in the last 8-10 years – and it did not disappoint. The chapter on Advanced AD Management with PowerShell does a great job providing some background, setting the stage for why we’d want to know this, and providing some brief descriptions of various cmdlets that might be needed. My last experience with PowerShell/Active Directory required the Quest module, so seeing these native cmdlets is a nice change. The chapter on AD FS is very detailed, providing a history of the functionality, deployment topologies and considerations, as well as details on configuring the required components. This is a topic I was not familiar with before seeing this book, and it did a good job bringing me up to speed on the feature. I have not made it all the way through this book, but the sections I have completed are very good. If you are looking for a thorough reference guide on the current state of Active Directory, you should check out this book.

Realistic book of el Camino de Santiago
Format: Paperback
This is the most realistic and informative book I've read about el Camino de Santiago, (and I've read no less than 10 in my preparation to walk el Camino). It is beautifully written, inspirational, humble and encouraging. The reality of the albergues or refugios hit me, so I decided to book in private albergues or pensiones in advance. Thank you Joyce for opening our eyes about the hard parts of the Camino, but also of all the beauty and the transformative experience. I hope to savor some of what you and Tome did (minus the albergues), and to learn to appreciate every little thing that we take it for granted. Beautiful book! A must read for all who wants to walk The Way.
