Experience reliable, industrial‑grade connectivity with the Cisco 1000Base‑T SFP, Industrial Temp. This copper‑based transceiver delivers a robust Gigabit Ethernet connection over twisted‑pair cabling, engineered for demanding environments and mission‑critical data networking. Designed for seamless integration into Cisco networks, this SFP module offers plug‑and‑play deployment, hot‑swapping capabilities, and dependable performance across a variety of industrial applications—from manufacturing floors and smart factories to edge data centers and resilient campus networks. Built to withstand harsh conditions, it helps you extend your existing Ethernet infrastructure without sacrificing reliability or cost efficiency.

  • High‑speed Gigabit performance: Up to 1000 Mbps data transfer over copper twisted‑pair with a single 1000Base‑T port, enabling fast, reliable uplinks, server connections, and inter‑switch links. Designed to minimize latency and maximize throughput for bandwidth‑hungry applications, this Cisco SFP module keeps your network moving at enterprise speeds.
  • Industrial temperature design: Engineered for harsh environments with an industrial‑grade temperature rating, ensuring consistent operation across a wider operating envelope. Whether deployed in factory floors, warehouses, or outdoor‑adjacent equipment rooms, this transceiver maintains performance and reliability in challenging conditions.
  • Compact SFP form factor: Fits standard SFP slots (mini‑GBIC) on a wide range of Cisco switches and compatible devices, enabling flexible deployment and easy inventory management. Its hot‑swappable design minimizes downtime during upgrades or replacements and supports scalable network growth.
  • Copper twisted‑pair interface: Utilizes a 1000Base‑T copper interface with an RJ‑45 connector, leveraging ubiquitous Ethernet cabling and eliminating the need for fiber optics in many deployments. This makes upgrades cost‑effective and compatible with existing copper infrastructure across corporate and industrial networks.
  • Cisco compatibility and deployment flexibility: Specifically designed for Cisco networks while offering broad interoperability with 1000Base‑T SFP‑enabled gear. This gives IT teams confidence in seamless integration, standardized performance, and straightforward cross‑vendor deployments where appropriate.

How to install Cisco 1000Base-T SFP, Industrial Temp

To install the Cisco 1000Base‑T SFP, begin by verifying that your device supports 1000Base‑T SFP modules and that the SFP slot is available. Power down the device if required by your equipment’s maintenance policies, or ensure the slot supports hot‑swapping if you prefer a non‑disruptive upgrade. Insert the SFP module firmly into the SFP slot until it seats with a decisive click, making sure the connectors are aligned and the module is fully seated. Attach a compatible 1000Base‑T copper cable (RJ‑45) to the module and connect the other end to the corresponding network device or switch. Observe the link and activity LEDs on both ends to confirm a physical connection and negotiation success. Power up the device or resume operation if you powered down, then access the management interface of your switch or router to verify port status, speed negotiation to 1000 Mbps, and duplex settings. If needed, configure the port for your network requirements—adjust speed, duplex, VLAN tagging, and security policies as dictated by your topology. Finally, monitor the link performance and error counters over time to ensure stability and identify any potential cabling or hardware issues early.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q: Is this Cisco 1000Base‑T SFP compatible with my switch? A: The module is designed for Cisco devices and supports 1000Base‑T SFP slots. Confirm your model’s compatibility with Cisco’s documentation or your network administrator to ensure seamless operation.
  • Q: What cable type do I need? A: Use a standard RJ‑45 copper twisted‑pair Ethernet cable compatible with 1000Base‑T. Depending on the distance requirements, Cat5e, Cat6, or higher category cables are suitable, provided they meet the Ethernet standard for 1 Gbps links.
  • Q: Does this module require any special drivers? A: SFP transceivers typically rely on the switch firmware for operation. No separate drivers are usually required beyond standard device management interfaces provided by your Cisco switch or router.
  • Q: Can I use this module outdoors or in extreme environments? A: The Industrial Temp designation indicates suitability for harsher environments when used within appropriate enclosures and thermal considerations. For outdoor deployments, ensure proper protection and adherence to the device’s installation guidelines.
  • Q: Is the module hot‑swappable? A: Yes. The Cisco 1000Base‑T SFP is designed to be hot‑swappable on compatible switches, allowing replacement or upgrades without powering down the entire system in many administrative scenarios.

They're okay, but they're quite bulky.
I liked the design and overall application of these, but they don't fit my needs. They definitely work well at protecting my hands from freezing weather, but they are way too bulky for regular motorcycle use. In my opinion, I feel that these would be much more suited for a snowmobile or ATV. If you treat them as what they’re mostly designed for — ATV/snow-related riding or cold-weather utilitarian use — these gloves are a solid buy. They deliver warmth, weather protection, and decent control through the TPU windows. But if you put them on a fast street motorcycle or expect “motorcycle-glove” levels of control and feel — they’ll likely disappoint or even pose safety trade-offs. In that context, lighter and more control-oriented gloves would probably serve you better. The reason I'm docking stars is because they're marketed toward motorcycle users, and they;re very impractical. The durability seems pretty good, as I've taken them out and even had a couple of rocks/road debris hit the TPU windows with no scratches or punctures. They're not super comfortable to use at highway speeds, especially since they fit so loose, and they tend to press my front brake/clutch which is very dangerous. I personally cannot recommend this product for motorcycle use, unless you already have handguards, which will probably negate the need for these at all. Invest in some good heated gloves and/or heated grips, and I think you'll be much safer and better off in the end. For the price, I think this is a good value, but they're just not for me.

All ATV owners need these.
These gloves are fabulous. Anybody having fun on a ATV need these. With my hand warmer and these gloves, I don’t wear anything else on my hands. They are great.

handlebar mittens
Too big. If using during snow plowing they are a burden due to need to take hands off controls, and shift from forward to reverse. Might be okay if just riding around on trails, etc.
