Avoid the Dangers of Asbestos Exposure with Asbestos Training

Face-to-face asbestos awareness training gives individuals the skills and knowledge needed to identify and report asbestos. Manufacturers have not used asbestos in products for close to two decades. However, homes and buildings constructed before the ban may contain asbestos building and plumbing materials.

Most asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) were banned in Australia in the mid-1990s. Asbestos was entirely banned in 2003. Yet, many buildings were constructed before the ban. Older commercial sites and residential properties may contain products made with asbestos.

Some products do not pose severe safety concerns. However, some types of asbestos are crushed easily, distributing small fibres through the air. Inhaling asbestos fibres increases the risk of serious health issues, such as lung cancer and mesothelioma. 

Exposure to asbestos fibres can also cause asbestosis, which is a condition that occurs due to scarring of the lungs. The scars can lead to additional health complications, including difficulty breathing and fatigue. 

Studies suggest that thousands of Australian citizens die of asbestos-related diseases each year. Banning asbestos was the first step in protecting the public and workers. Awareness is the next step. Learning how to identify asbestos and understanding the severity of the health risks keeps people safe. 

Do You Need Asbestos Awareness or Asbestos Removal Training?

An asbestos awareness certificate is necessary for individuals who may encounter asbestos products at work sites. This often includes individuals in the construction industry. Construction workers and demolition workers may encounter asbestos in building material and old plumbing.

Tradespeople may also require awareness training. Plumbers, electricians, and emergency services workers may need asbestos certification due to the potential risk of asbestos exposure.

An asbestos licence is needed for the removal of asbestos-containing material (ACM). According to SafeWork Australia, licenced asbestos removalists are needed for safe asbestos removal work. 

Depending on your job duties, your asbestos training requirements may require the successful completion of several courses, including:

  • Asbestos awareness
  • Class B asbestos removal
  • Class A asbestos removal
  • Asbestos supervisor course
  • Asbestos assessor course

If your work does not involve the removal of asbestos but includes potential asbestos exposure, you should complete asbestos awareness training. Asbestos refresher courses in Albury are also recommended every 12 to 24 months. Refresher courses ensure that workers continue to follow asbestos safety procedures.

Additional courses are needed for asbestos removal. The Class B asbestos removal course is required for the removal of more than 10m2 of non-friable asbestos. The Class A asbestos removal course is required for the removal of any amount of friable asbestos. 

Friable asbestos refers to asbestos products that are easily crushed or pulverised. This includes pipe lagging and other forms of asbestos insulation. When crushed, the material releases airborne asbestos fibres that can cause health issues. Non-friable products, such as asbestos cement sheets, do not crush as easily, but may still pose a health risk. 

What Are the Learning Outcomes for Asbestos Awareness Training?

Asbestos awareness training courses follow the 10675NAT unit of competency. Awareness training does not cover the safety procedures for removing or encapsulating asbestos. Participants explore the following topics:

  • Potential health hazards of asbestos exposure
  • Common types and properties of asbestos
  • Common sources of asbestos and asbestos-containing material

The course helps individuals understand the risks involved in handling asbestos. You will learn more about the health hazards and why the removal of asbestos requires safety protocols.

Asbestos products are not always easy to recognise. Participants learn more about the properties of asbestos and common sources of asbestos to help them identify it and avoid exposure.

Surprisingly strong cooling effect and really comfortable

This comforter honestly impressed me more than I expected. The cooling effect is very noticeable right away. Like actually noticeable, not just one of those things brands say. When you first touch it, it feels cool to the skin and that feeling sticks around instead of fading instantly. I’ve been using it at night and it definitely helps with overheating. I tend to get cery hot when I sleep, also I’m pregnant right now so that makes it even worse, and this has made a difference. It feels lightweight but still cozy enough that it doesn’t feel like you’re just using a thin sheet. The fabric is really soft and smooth, also it lays nicely on the bed without feeling stiff or bulky. It gives that clean, almost silky feel without being slippery. One thing to keep in mind is it’s not a super thick comforter, but i will say there is some heft to it. Like if i wrap myself around in it, it has some weight to it. Overall, I’m really happy with it. It actually does what it claims with the cooling, and it’s comfortable enough for everyday use. Great option if you’re a hot sleeper or just want something lighter and refreshing at night.

I absolutely love this comforter! It is super lightweight and has a very silky soft shell on both sides. It feels so good to sleep under! Ever since I have been using it, I haven't been waking up in sweat covered sheets. It constantly has a cool feel to it 24/7. It is large enough that it fits my king size bed pretty good. It doesn't hang far over the edges, but it fits. It is dual sided, so you can have a light gray look on one side and a dark gray look on the other side, depending on what fits your decor better. I definitely recommend getting if you are on the lookout for a cooling comforter, especially because of the silky soft feel.

This comforter arrived packaged very well from the manufacturer. It arrived sealed in plastic inside a box. The color and appearance of the comforter received looks like what was shown in the listing. This comforter is extremely soft. It feels very cool to the touch. It has a great cooling effect. It is also not too heavy. A lot of cooling bedding products like this feel heavy. While this does have some weight it is not too much. It is easy to move around. The comforter is easy to refresh and cool off again after extended use. I just uncovered myself, lifted and moved the comforter around a little, then covered back up. This made it feel cooler again. I am very happy with this comforter so far. I like the color and design. I really like feeling cool when falling asleep. This will be great when the temperatures start going up. I will update this review later if anything changes after washing a few more times and longer use. I think this will be a good comforter for most hot sleepers who like to cover up all year.

Feels seriously amazing!

This is my second cooling comforter from this brand and this one is just as amazing as the first. It’s silky soft and makes a significant temperature difference. It’s like magic; you don’t need to do anything special to cool it before bed. If you do want extra coolness, you can place it in front of your AC or turn on your fan for a little bit before bed and It absorbs the extra coolness but either way it lasts all night. I use it with the cooling pillow, and the hot summer nights are no match. It’s easy to wash, really silky, smooth, and actually cool against the skin. It also somehow has a weighted blanket-like feel without being heavy. I standby this blanket so much that this is my second one, highly recommend!

Super Soft, Lightweight, and Surprisingly Cozy
This ended up being so much better than I expected. The first thing I noticed is how incredibly soft it is - it has that plush, velvety feel that makes you want to keep reaching for it all day. It’s lightweight but still warm, which I really like. It gives you that cozy, wrapped-up feeling without being heavy or overwhelming, so it works well for everyday use on the couch or even for sleeping. For reference, I’m 5’2” and it’s big enough to comfortably use as a full snuggle blanket. It also looks really nice draped over furniture. The texture adds a little dimension, and the clean, simple color gives it a polished look that doesn’t feel cheap. One thing to note is that it arrives compressed, but it fluffs up nicely once opened and feels much fuller after a little time. The only thing to keep in mind is that lighter colors will naturally show dirt more easily, so that’s something to be aware of with regular use. Overall, this has easily become my go-to daily throw - soft, comfortable, and much nicer than I expected for the price.
