Given its name due to the show moving to NBC, the first television network broadcasting in colour, the show first premiered in 1954. The anthology television series "Wonderful World Of Color" has had several titles and formats, being the second longest-running prime-time program on U.S. television.

This original production 'cel' or celluloid would have been used in the original production process after an animators' original drawing was traced onto a sheet of transparent plastic and hand-painted in colour. It would have then been projected in front of a hand-painted background via a multiplane camera to create a minute yet crucial movement in the final film.
