　　《拾香紀》透過連家，父母連城宋雲與十位兄弟姊妹的經歷，連家的經歷就刻畫下半部香港史。小說中主角十香細思回想連家一家每個人各種不同的遭遇，扣連著香港史上的重大事件：六七暴動、溫黛颱風襲港、香港小姐選美等……個人與社會集體記憶兩者緊密聯繫。連家的興衰起落也是香港的起伏縮影，甚至每位兄弟姊妹都各自象徵的香港一部份的特色。

　　時間背景為二〇一七年，更大規模的黑暗暴力尚未來臨前。《焚香紀》接續了《拾香記》，以連家父親連城，十香戀愛的對象林佳為主角，以及其他《拾香記》的第三代，接續描繪一九九七年香港回歸後，兩地之間逐次累積的矛盾，延續著以個人作為時代縮影的一貫特色，透過小說人物的生活經歷，銳利地描繪出今日香港人在自己鍾愛的城中，如同異鄉人的感受。

　　祖籍福建，生於香港，香港作家及電影編劇。
 
　　其小說作品《拾香紀》獲得香港中文文學雙年獎1997年—1998年度的小說組獎項。已出版多本小說及短篇作品，亦有於不同媒介撰寫文稿及出席講座等，其作品多以香港本土作為背景，以書寫香港男女的感情生活作為其作品的明顯風格。
 
　　現為國立臺北藝術大學電影創作學系客座副教授。
