This innovation empowers users to capture steady shots while retaining unmatched agility and mobility, unleashing a world of creative possibilities.

World-first in-camera live grad ND filter effects

Unveiling a groundbreaking technology, the OM SYSTEM OM-1 Mark II introduces the world to Live GND (Graduated ND) shooting—a pioneering leap in computational photography. This innovative feature meticulously replicates the effects of employing a half ND, providing precise control over brightness and darkness within the image to yield truly stunning output. Seamlessly adjusting filter steps (GND2, GND4, or GND8) and types (Soft, Medium, or Hard) in real-time through the EVF or rear LCD, Live GND shooting offers photographers unparalleled flexibility. This unique approach facilitates exact customisation of the effect's position and angle, empowering photographers to effortlessly bring their envisioned images to life.

Notably, Live GND shooting eliminates the need for physical filters attached to the lens. This groundbreaking feature extends the realm of creative expression, particularly in genres like landscape photography, where lenses may lack filter threads. Pushing the boundaries further, the OM-1 Mark II enhances the upper limit for step numbers in Live ND shooting to ND128, making it adept at handling scenarios requiring larger step numbers. Experience a new era of creativity and precision with Live GND shooting—redefining the artistry of photography.

More than just a 20MP sensor

Unleashing formidable imaging capabilities, the OM-1 Mark II pioneers functions like the approximately 50M Handheld High Res Shot and approximately 80M Tripod High Res Shot. These advanced features transcend sensor limitations by ingeniously merging multiple images, resulting in high-resolution captures that reduce noise by nearly two ISO sensitivity steps. Enabling RAW recording at 14 bits, these functions elevate the photography experience, delivering exquisite detail and clarity in every shot.

In addition to these powerful capabilities, the camera boasts computational photography functions such as Live Composite and Focus Stacking. Live Composite selectively illuminates brightened areas, enhancing the dynamic range of images. Meanwhile, Focus Stacking provides precise control over the depth of field, ensuring accurate subject focus and depth for unparalleled visual storytelling. Elevate your photography with the OM-1 Mark II—where innovation meets imaging excellence.

Advanced AI Detection AF

Powered by cutting-edge deep learning technologies, the enhanced AI Detection AF of the OM-1 Mark II is a technological marvel, recognising a diverse array of subjects—from humans and racing cars to animals and aviation. This advancement seamlessly integrates with the established Face Priority / Eye Priority AF, significantly refining autofocus capabilities. Harnessing the rapid computational prowess of the TruePic X image processor, the AI Detection AF offers instantaneous real-time subject detection. It tracks subjects with precision, ensuring they stay in focus without any loss, even capturing intricate details like driver's helmets or the eyes of birds and animals—feats unattainable through human operation. With the ability to detect and track up to eight subjects, users have unparalleled flexibility in selecting their preferred target, enhancing creative possibilities.

Usability enhancements make configuring subject detection settings a breeze, accessible within the intuitive Super Control Panel. This streamlined feature ensures stress-free shooting experiences, granting users greater control over their photographic endeavors. Enhanced memory buffer

Unleashing unprecedented speed, the OM-1 Mark II introduces Pro Capture, revolutionizing your ability to capture fleeting moments. With a half-press of the shutter button (1st release), it begins recording, storing precious frames from the moment the button is fully pressed (2nd release). This ensures you never miss a beat, achieving high-speed sequential shooting at up to 120 fps during AF/AE lock and around 50 fps during AF/AE tracking, ideal for fast-moving subjects.

Enhanced buffer memory allows for approximately 99 frames in Pro Capture mode, a significant boost from the OM-1's 70 frames. In sequential shooting, the OM-1 Mark II achieves about 219 frames in JPEG format or 213 frames in RAW at approximately 120 fps. This substantial improvement elevates your high-speed shooting capabilities, ensuring you capture every moment with unparalleled precision and efficiency.

Good book for parents
Format: Hardcover
A good review for parents to keep as they struggle, but as reviewer noted a bit oversimplified. I bought after had listened to a panel on Forum discussed screen time. As a grandparent, sitting with my wife each on our I pads, I recall eating at restaurants when you look an see so many n smart gadgets texting, tweeting selfing and wonder where the talk is. I did post a photo of a wee grandchild playing while tv playing and three other in room were on their gadgets. The discussion was good. No answers. But, the discusses all recommend Lahey's book. In a period when helicopter parents strive for kids and overpower them, success comes without self motivation, and absent of failing , or at least the skills needed to overcome failure, grit and resilience and desire. Good to,learn early that they are part of a community and tasks are performed not for bribes or pay, but part of all pulling together. She spends a few pages on bullying and how to deal with it. Certainly for sandbox or recess in early years letting kids figure out how to work together through squabbles and fights is good. How do we handle the issues when kids get older? Teddy Roosevelt said learn to box. Sometimes really big kids pummel the weak. Stepping in may be needed. Bullying which now is felt a larger part of school with snubbing, nasty notes, cliques causes no bodily harm, but is part of life. Dealing with it Is a difficult task for teachers and parents. I applaud the new generation of teachers and parents who work as teams. A quarter century ago the moms at our kids elementary school were called the mafia moms. No prisoners. I recall an episode when well dressed ladies said whatever the vogue n radon gas wrong, ..they knew cause they could read and they didn't have to learn what their kids were saddled with and the new math, now very old, was wrong. Maybe now teachers and parents can complain together about the evil core, or how much time the teachers should spend prepping for a test.

Good tips, though possibly over-obvious to some...
Format: Kindle
if you're prone to be a helicopter parent. If you're not, then I would say read it anyway so you can see where other parents might be approaching parenting. It pretty much fits in with other parenting books I've read such as "How Children Succeed" by Paul Tough, and "Grit" by Angela Duckworth. As with any parenting book, how useful you find it depends on what you're already doing. One of the examples that the author uses in the book is that of a kid forgetting his/her lunch at home. If you "rescue" the kid by driving his lunch to school, then there's no motivation for him to remember it in the future. Got it! When I was a kid and I forgot my lunch at home, I was not then able to concentrate at school for fear of my mother's reaction when I got home. She needed to "teach me a lesson" by shaming me for forgetting it, cussing me out, turning it into a moral issue, and giving me the silent treatment for several days. When that's the consequence for forgetting a lunch, then going hungry for a day seems trivial. In fact, it would be less stressful to simply declare that I'm no longer bringing lunch to school anymore so that I can't possibly forget it again, and protect myself from a bipolar parent's mood swings. But some parents can't even let their kids go hungry for the day, even though suffering the consequence's of one's behavior doesn't even feel like punishment. If you had a parent like mine, you would hardly need to read this book, and yet I would recommend it so you can understand what other people's parents are doing. My kid is 2 now. I pretty much let him learn from experience, although I outright ban dangerous and unhygienic behaviors. This book pretty much reinforces my approach anyway.
