The GeoVision Ethernet Switch is a compact, durable 8-port solution engineered to strengthen local networks and enhance surveillance deployments. With support for 10/100/1000Base-T and truly manageable Layer 2 functionality, this switch delivers fast, reliable connectivity for IP cameras, workstations, VoIP phones, and wireless access points. Designed to reduce downtime and improve overall network performance, it offers the right balance of speed, control, and scalability for small to medium-sized installations. Whether you’re building a new network from scratch or expanding an existing GeoVision ecosystem, this 8-port switch provides a dependable backbone that keeps data flowing smoothly across devices and applications.

  • 8 Gigabit-ready ports for versatile networking: Eight RJ-45 ports auto-negotiate to 10/100/1000 Mbps, enabling high-speed connections for cameras, computers, printers, IP phones, and other Ethernet devices. The generous port count supports flexible topologies, whether you’re creating a new local network or extending an established one, with ample headroom for growth as bandwidth demands rise.
  • PoE-enabled ports simplify deployment and reduce clutter: Power over Ethernet on compatible ports allows you to place cameras and other powered devices without separate power adapters. This makes installation faster and cleaner, especially in hard-to-reach or ceiling-mounted locations where traditional power outlets are inconvenient or impractical.
  • Layer 2 manageability for efficient traffic control: As a manageable Layer 2 switch, it enables essential traffic management features to optimize data flows. You can improve performance for critical streams, minimize unnecessary broadcast traffic, and maintain smooth operation of video feeds and office applications in busy networks.
  • Reliable, compact design for diverse environments: Built to operate quietly and efficiently, the 8-port switch fits easily in network closets, equipment racks, or on a desk. Its compact footprint and robust construction make it a reliable choice for small offices, clinics, retail spaces, and surveillance setups that demand consistent throughput and minimal downtime.
  • Scalable and easy to integrate with existing gear: This switch is designed for straightforward deployment and seamless integration with your current networking stack. It enables quick expansion of bandwidth and connectivity as your organization’s needs evolve, while staying compatible with GeoVision ecosystems and standard Ethernet devices alike.

How to Install GeoVision Ethernet Switch

Setting up your GeoVision Ethernet Switch is straightforward and quick, designed to get your network up and running with minimal effort. Follow these steps to install the device in a typical office or surveillance environment:

  • Plan your topology: Determine where the switch will be placed, identify the devices you will connect (cameras, computers, phones, wireless access points), and decide which ports will be used for PoE-powered devices.
  • Power and placement: Position the switch in a ventilated area, near a power outlet if you’re using non-PoE ports for devices that require external power. If the switch supports PoE, ensure it is connected to a suitable power source and that PoE devices are within reach of the ports you intend to use.
  • Connect to the network: Use CAT5e/CAT6 cables to connect each device to the appropriate Ethernet ports. For uplinks to your router or core switch, connect a high-priority device to one of the Gigabit ports to maximize throughput.
  • Power up and verify: Turn on the switch and allow it to boot. Check link/activity indicators on the front panel (or through the management interface) to verify each connection is established and operating at the correct speed.
  • Configure management features: Access the switch’s web-based management interface or CLI (as provided by the firmware). Configure basic settings such as IP address, VLANs (if applicable), and QoS policies to prioritize critical traffic like surveillance streams. Save and back up your configuration to prevent loss after power cycles.
  • Test connectivity and performance: Validate camera feeds, voice devices, and PCs for stable connectivity. Monitor traffic to ensure PoE devices receive adequate power and bandwidth, and adjust QoS or VLAN configurations if necessary to optimize performance.
  • Document and monitor: Record your network map and device assignments, including port-to-device mappings. Maintain monitoring routines to detect potential bottlenecks or failures and perform firmware updates when available to improve features and security.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q: Is the GeoVision Ethernet Switch a PoE device? A: Yes. The switch includes PoE-enabled ports to power compatible devices such as IP cameras and VoIP phones, simplifying installation and reducing cable clutter.
  • Q: How many devices can I connect to this switch? A: The switch provides 8 Ethernet ports, allowing connections for multiple cameras, workstations, and other networked devices. It’s ideal for small offices or surveillance setups that require reliable, centralized connectivity.
  • Q: Is this switch fiber or copper? A: It uses copper Ethernet with RJ-45 ports supporting 10/100/1000Base-T. There is no fiber optic interface on this model; for fiber you would need an appropriate media converter or a different switch with SFP slots.
  • Q: Does it support VLANs or advanced QoS? A: As a Layer 2, manageable switch, it supports core Layer 2 traffic management features to optimize data flows. VLANs and QoS are commonly available in Layer 2 devices; please refer to the firmware documentation for precise feature support on your specific unit.
  • Q: How do I install and configure the switch? A: Install the switch by connecting devices to the ports, powering the unit, and accessing its web-based management interface to configure basic network settings. Save the configuration after making changes. If needed, enable PoE management for connected devices and adjust port priorities to ensure critical video streams receive adequate bandwidth.

delightful read
Format: Kindle
What a delightful read. The characters are awesome, the plot was so good, I loved it. I was intrigued and it kept me wanting more. Told in multiple pov, the book sucks you in and doesn’t let go. I cannot wait to read the next book.

not bad
Format: Kindle
I loved the plot of this book. The characters just didn’t have a lot of depth. The connections and “love” just weren’t communicated very well in the writing. The author didn’t write the sweet psycho trope very well at all either. Lachlan was just a mess of a character.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.
