Description

This is a significant historical volume of the Foreign Relations of the United States (FRUS) series, focusing entirely on China in 1943. Published in 1957, this book contains primary source documents, telegrams, and memos detailing U.S.-China relations during the height of World War II.

This particular copy features a unique personal provenance: it contains a red name stamp and elegant Chinese calligraphy on the first page belonging to the "Collection of Ma Yeh-Shiang," dated July 1970.

Condition Report

This volume is in Good condition and is a solid "reference" copy.

  • Binding: The original maroon buckram cloth is strong. The gold gilt on the spine remains visible and the binding is tight.

  • Exterior: No dust jacket. There is some visible water staining/spotting on the front and back covers (see photos), but it does not affect the structural integrity of the boards.

  • Interior: The pages are clean, crisp, and free of rips or tears.

  • Special Markings: Features a personal collection stamp and Chinese calligraphy on the front endpaper. Unlike the previous volume, this does not appear to be an ex-library copy (no library pockets or external stamps).

  • Edges: Light age-toning on the text block edges, consistent with a 1950s publication.

Great gift
It’s really hard to find a wallet with a mesh ID window. This one looks great and fits very well in the back pocket.

Herschel is seriously the Best!
Color: Black Tonal
Got this for my teenage son & it was the perfect size for him. He didn’t want a bulky wallet, just something simple to carry his school ID, cash and his debit card. Herschel has amazing quality products, definitely can’t go wrong with them! Worth the price for sure :)

Nice and thin
Color: Black Tonal
Slim wallet. Made for a minimalist type of person. Ideally for only about five cards and some cash anything more the wallet will start to bulge.

Minimal and Magnificent
Color: Black Tonal
I've had more than a few front pocket wallets, and this one is up at the top. It's sturdy even though it's thin, and the stitching is even. Card retention is great with room for 1-2 cards per pocket, as well as room for a few bills to fit comfortably in the middle pocket. Probably going to buy another as a backup.

Perfect size, style, and material
Color: Ivy Green/Chicory Coffee
I love the Charlie wallet, it’s so sleek, fits everything you need, looks good, and made out of the best material. The amount of pockets plus the center fold makes this a really hard product to beat
