Algae Discs

  

In addition to Starter 100, algae discs are the perfect first food for Tilapia and other algae-loving fry. (Start slow, with a half disc, then increase to approximately two discs per 500 fry per twice-daily feeding). Once the fry become fingerlings, they are ready to move up to Starter 200 food, though some experts believe continuing to feed algae discs in addition to Starter 100, 200 or 300 pellets encourages faster growth and spawning.  As long as you are feeding the appropriate amount, algae discs won’t make your tank water cloudy like algae powder can, and they will also provide a nice nutritional boost to any bottom feeders you may have in your tank, such as the Plecostomus.
