Few small towns in America have as colorful a history as that of Woodstock in Ulster County, New York. Set in a countryside of exceptional natural beauty, Woodstock from the first embodied the most enduring characteristics of the Catskills and the Hudson Valley. From the early days of Indians, trappers, farmers, and land barons, to the present day of rock musicians, craftspeople, and refugees from the urban scene, Alf Evers’s extraordinary history tells the tale of a very special American place.Long before the Woodstock Festival put the name of Woodstock Village on the map and drew young people from all over the world, Woodstock had an earlier incarnation in which free-thinking ideas held sway. In 1902, inspired by the social philosophy of John Ruskin and William Morris, three men—Hervey White, Ralph Whitehead, and Bolton Coit Brown— brought their Utopian vision to the Catskills, looking for a place to settle. With a number of requirements in mind, they came upon this small hamlet set in the mountains on a tract of land given to Robert Livingston. They decided unanimously that it was here that “man’s mightiest creative energies might be released,” and they would feel free to pursue their talents while living in a self-sufficient community. The “earthly paradise” they discovered was, of course, the cheerful, industrious, and well-kept town of Woodstock, and in it they built their historic new society. From the 1920s on, the town was known as a familiar art and cultural center, with two competing communities—Byrdcliffe and Maverick—working to develop a style of life that would integrate arts and crafts with advanced social ideas. Following these early American bohemians came the Yippies and Beat artists of the Fifties and the “Woodstock Generation” of the Sixties. The conflict between the more traditional town, the conservative agricultural community, and the exiles from Greenwich Village, the artisans of the craft colony, waxed and waned with each new generation, each side vigorously defending a way of life and inevitably benefitting from the continuing existence of the other.Woodstock: History of an American Town is the result of fifteen years of research by the distinguished local historian Alf Evers. His previous work, The Catskills, prepared the groundwork for the present and more detailed study of a village which became one of the most famous towns in America. It is, in many ways, the story of the birth, growth, and coming of age of the American way in its evocation of the early pioneer values of individualism and self-sufficiency with those of the community and commonweal. It is a captivating tale.

Crisp, Refreshing, and a Family Favorite
Flavor Name: Kiwi Strawberry, Size: 16.9 Fl Oz (Pack of 12)
Propel Kiwi Strawberry is one of our favorites. It’s crisp, refreshing, and has just the right amount of flavor without being overpowering. The kiwi strawberry taste is especially enjoyable and makes it easy to drink throughout the day.
We also like that it’s zero calorie and includes electrolytes and vitamins, making it a great option for staying hydrated during workouts or busy days.
Overall, a consistently refreshing drink that we always keep stocked in the house.

Great tasting Propel Water
Flavor Name: Kiwi Strawberry, Size: 16.9 Fl Oz (Pack of 12)
Great-tasting and refreshing Propel is one of my to go to drinks when I want something flavorful without being overly heavy like soda. The flavors are crisp and not too sweet, and its nice bonus knowing there are added vitamins. Perfect for on-the-go or after workout. I keep coming back to it.

Good beverage choice to mix your colonoscopy prep powder in.
Flavor Name: Kiwi Strawberry, Size: 16.9 Fl Oz (Pack of 12)
In preparation for a colonoscopy I was allowed to mix the required prep powder in any flavored water beverage that replenishes electrolytes as long as the color was clear. I dislike water and am not good at drinking the daily minimum requirement. I had to find something I could tolerate especially with my having to drink 64 ounces in a matter of a few hours. So I started my Amazon search and based on the reviews, I purchased both the Propel Strawberry-Kiwi and the Melon flavors. I was taking a chance that at least one of the two flavors would work for me. The Strawberry-Kiwi albeit on the sweet side surprisingly tasted good after I added a ton of ice and made slushes. I really didn’t taste the Kiwi but the strawberry came through. The melon was less sweet but I did not get a real taste of melon flavor, just a hint. Since I only needed 64 ounces and each bottle is 16 oz, I only had to use 4 of the 24 bottles I purchased leaving me with 20. I’m going to continue making slushes but plan on adding fresh strawberries and melon to the mix and this way hopefully drink more while getting electrolytes. One Amazon review I read was by a couple who drank Propel daily and really felt sluggish if they skipped a day. I am hoping that by the end of consuming 20 bottles, I will also see a difference in my energy levels. The cost of Propel was extremely reasonable compared to like brands that in my opinion weren’t any different except for price. Even though Propel is sugar free, it does contain sucralose. As a I diabetic, I am not supposed to have any sugar substitutes other than stevia, but since sucralose is not one of the primary ingredients, and pretty far down the ingredient list, those 64 ounces I drank had a minimal (if any) effect on my blood sugar.
