How to install D-Link 52-Port Layer 3 Stackable Managed Gigabit Switch including 4 10GbE Ports

Getting the most from this switch begins with a straightforward deployment that fits into a variety of network architectures. Start by selecting a suitable mounting option—whether on a rack, in a cabinet, or on a sturdy desk—keeping ventilation clear and allowing for easy access to ports and power. Prepare a plan that maps out your device topology, including the distribution of devices on the 52 Gigabit ports and the role of the 4 x 10GbE uplinks. This ensures smooth integration with your existing core or aggregation switches, servers, and storage systems.

Next, connect the power supply and verify that the device powers up normally. Connect one of the 10GbE uplinks to your core or distribution switch to establish a high-speed management path and a backbone for traffic that traverses the network. Use standard Ethernet cables to attach endpoint devices, workstations, printers, and IP phones to the remaining Gigabit ports as needed. If you are implementing a data-center-like topology or a campus network, plan for VLAN segmentation and inter-VLAN routing to optimize latency and bandwidth allocation.

Access the switch’s management interface to begin configuration. The Web GUI provides an intuitive way to set up initial parameters such as IP addressing (IPv4/IPv6 as applicable), gateway, and management VLAN. From there, configure Layer 3 routing rules, define static routes or enable dynamic routing protocols as your network design requires. Create VLANs to segment traffic by department, service type, or security level, and assign ports to the appropriate VLANs. Establish QoS policies to prioritize latency-sensitive applications like VoIP or video conferencing, ensuring consistent performance even during peak usage.

Enable security and reliability features appropriate to your environment. Implement ACLs to control access to sensitive resources, enable port security measures to prevent unauthorized devices from connecting, and set up storm control to mitigate broadcast or unknown-unicast floods. Consider stacking if you plan to scale beyond a single chassis; stacking simplifies management by presenting multiple physical units as a single logical switch, allowing you to expand capacity without reconfiguring every device in your network.

Finally, save your configuration, monitor the network for stability, and perform validation tests. Verify reachability across VLANs, test inter-VLAN routing performance, and check the health of each uplink. Establish routine backup procedures for switch configurations and enable monitoring alerts so IT staff can respond quickly to any performance or security concerns. With careful planning and implementation, this switch can serve as a robust backbone for growing networks, supporting current requirements while remaining adaptable to future growth and changes in topology.

Not very much dispenses with pumps
Color: Glint Rainbow
This gives out very small puffs of glitter when depressing the pump. The glitter is as expected, but it would be more efficient to just open the dispenser with how little this pumps out. I'll probably just use this for crafts instead of body and hair. It doesnt really stick either because it is a dry powder

Fine, dry glitter in a puff spray bottle
Color: Glint Rainbow
This works well if, and only if, you know exactly what it is and if it'll work for your application. This glitter comes with no adhesive or stickiness in it. It is not like a glitter stick, or glitter makeup. It is dry glitter in a spray bottle. The spray pattern is very narrow, so if you want to spray it onto a piece of paper or you body, it will show up in a clump. It does not have an airy spray pattern. To use this, you need to add some stickiness to the surface you want it to stick to first. Something like glue on paper or some sort of sticky thing on your skin that won't sink in. If regular lotion sinks in, the glitter will just fall off. So petroleum jelly or something that sits on top works best. Also, if you want it spread out instead of in little clumps as it comes out of the spray bottle, you'll have to move it around manually. On some level, to be entirely honest, I'm not sure this application method is better than loose glitter. With loose glitter, at least I can manually sprinkle it and not get a giant blob like with the spray. Also, some little bits get loose with the spray, and loose glitter in a house is just asking for forever glitter. I'm deducting one star simply because the spray delivery mechanism isn't very useful, and can actually be a liability. Unlike some spray glitters with propellant and adhesive that are more like spray paint and have a more spray paint application profile. This manual puff method just doesn't work well with glitter.
