QNAP's QGD-1600P-8G is the world's first PoE-managed switch that supports Virtual Machines (VMs). Engineered for modern networks, it blends high-power PoE capabilities with virtualization-ready performance, enabling organizations to deploy IP cameras, wireless access points, and other PoE devices alongside VM-based network services. With a dual-CPU architecture, the QGD-1600P delivers robust Layer 2 switching and advanced management features, making it an ideal solution for SMBs, edge deployments, and small data centers where reliability, scalability, and virtualization come together in a single device.

  • The QGD-1600P-8G combines PoE scalability and VM-aware networking in one box: 4 ports deliver up to 60W each for high-demand devices like PTZ cameras and high-power wireless APs, while 12 PoE ports deliver up to 30W to support dense IP camera deployments, VoIP phones, and edge devices. Two PoE/SFP combo ports provide flexible uplink options, enabling combined PoE Ethernet and fiber connections to integrate seamlessly with existing core networks or data centers.
  • For virtualization and network automation, dual CPUs give the switch the horsepower to run VM-related services directly on the device and to segment traffic with high efficiency. This design supports VM guest networks, virtual routing, and enhanced isolation between VM workloads and physical devices, enabling administrators to create scalable, secure, and isolated network segments without requiring dedicated servers or external virtualization hardware.
  • Layer 2 switching with robust enterprise-grade features ensures reliable performance in crowded networks. Expect comprehensive VLAN support for traffic segmentation, advanced QoS to prioritize latency-sensitive traffic such as video streams and voice, IGMP Snooping for efficient multicast handling, and Link Aggregation to boost bandwidth and provide redundancy between switch stacks or between the switch and a core router. These capabilities help ensure smooth operation of surveillance systems, classrooms, and office environments with multiple PoE devices.
  • Management and deployment are streamlined through a polished web-based interface, CLI, and mobile-friendly dashboards. Network administrators can monitor PoE budgets in real time, schedule power to reduce energy consumption, implement security features such as port security and ACLs, and easily provision new IP cameras or APs in minutes—centralizing control for scalable, future-ready networks across multiple sites.
  • Designed for versatile environments, the QGD-1600P-8G excels in surveillance deployments, office networks, and edge computing. Its PoE capabilities reduce the need for separate power outlets and simplify cabling, while VM support opens opportunities for virtualization-based services at the network edge. This makes it a future-ready solution that grows with your business, delivering reliable performance, centralized management, and scalable PoE power for a growing ecosystem of devices and workloads.

How to Install QNAP QGD-1600P-8G Ethernet Switch

  • Position the switch in a rack or on a sturdy shelf with adequate ventilation. Ensure the area is free from obstructions to allow airflow and prevent overheating when PoE devices are in use.
  • Connect the switch to your power source, and if you are integrating with an existing core network, connect the uplink using one of the two PoE/SFP combo ports. If you are using fiber, install the appropriate SFP module and fiber cabling to reach your core switch or router.
  • Power on the switch and access the management interface through the discovered IP address or via your network management tools. Use the default credentials to start the setup wizard, then change the admin password to secure access.
  • Configure basic network settings including VLANs to segment traffic, QoS to prioritize critical streams, and PoE scheduling to optimize energy usage. If you plan to run VM services or VM-related networking, enable VM-aware features and allocate resources accordingly within the management interface.
  • Attach PoE-enabled devices—IP cameras, wireless APs, VoIP phones, etc.—to the appropriate PoE ports. Verify that each device receives power and that traffic is flowing correctly. Save the configuration and monitor port status and PoE consumption from the dashboard to maintain a stable, scalable deployment.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5

A good read
Format: Kindle
Multiple points of view. 3 Alpha men and an Omega male. She is a Beta in training for a new program placing betas in Alpha/Omega packs. Mila is only doing the program for the money to take care of her dad. She wasn't expecting to fall for a pack but when she sees this packs Omega she is done for. There is just something about him. His Alphas are good looking as well. Too bad she is hiding a secret and their government is acting shady. I liked it and can't wait to see where their story goes.

Slightly repetitive but I did love some things
Format: Kindle
I love this type of story. And omegaverse is one of my all time favorite genres. But there are a few things that pulled me out of my enjoyment while I was reading. It was repetitive at times as well as struggled with telling not showing. So we didn’t always feel like we were experiencing things with the main character. There were also some plot holes but they may still be answered in part 2. Now this isn’t to be said I didn’t enjoy parts of the story. I loved the almost instant love between Mila and Oliver. And how he started changing around her.
