The OWC Mercury Elite Pro Dual DAS Storage System is a purpose-built, high-performance external storage solution engineered for professionals who demand speed, reliability, and expandability. With dual drive bays, hardware RAID options, and versatile interfaces, this DAS (Direct-Attached Storage) system keeps workflow moving—whether you’re editing multi-terabyte 8K footage, archiving colossal photo libraries, or creating robust backups for mission-critical projects. Its sleek aluminum enclosure is designed to dissipate heat during sustained workloads, ensuring consistent performance even under heavy use. The Mercury Elite Pro Dual DAS is optimized for creators who need a dependable storage partner that can grow with their projects and adapt to evolving workflows. Enjoy the freedom of cross‑platform compatibility, effortless setup, and flexible RAID configurations that give you the balance you want between speed, protection, and capacity.

  • Blazing-fast interfaces for versatility and speed: The Mercury Elite Pro Dual DAS offers dual connectivity through Thunderbolt 2 and USB 3.2, allowing you to leverage the fastest path available on your workstation. Whether you’re working on a Mac with Thunderbolt 2 or a PC with USB 3.2, you can maintain peak performance across your creative pipeline without juggling adapters or cables.
  • Dual-drive architecture with hardware RAID: This enclosure houses two drives and includes a hardware RAID controller, delivering optimized data throughput and protection. Choose from RAID configurations that emphasize performance (RAID 0), redundancy (RAID 1), or flexible storage with JBOD, so you can tailor data protection, capacity, and speed to your project needs. The hardware RAID reduces CPU overhead, keeps data transfer steady, and minimizes latency during large file transfers and real-time editing sessions.
  • Massive, scalable capacity for growing libraries: With support for up to 16TB of total storage across two drives, the Mercury Elite Pro Dual DAS provides ample space for 4K, 8K, or RAW workflows, along with long-term archiving. As your library grows, you can swap in larger drives or reconfigure RAID to optimize space and performance, making this a future-proof addition to your studio or workstation.
  • Durable, thermally optimized enclosure: The exterior is built from rugged aluminum with thoughtful heat-dissipation design to keep drives cooler during extended sessions. This resilience matters when you’re rendering, exporting, or backing up large projects over extended periods, helping to maintain steady performance and reliability under demanding workloads.
  • Cross‑platform compatibility and easy setup: Mac and Windows users alike can benefit from the Mercury Elite Pro Dual DAS. The system works with standard formatting and software tools, so you can format drives to your preferred filesystem and start transferring data quickly. Its flexible interface options simplify integration into diverse environments without forcing you into a single ecosystem.

How to install OWC Mercury Elite Pro Dual DAS Storage System

  • Step 1: Unpack and inspect the box contents. Ensure you have the Mercury Elite Pro Dual DAS enclosure, the appropriate Thunderbolt 2 and USB 3.2 cables, and the external power adapter. Look for any loose screws or accessories and verify there’s no visible damage from shipping.
  • Step 2: Install drives into the two internal bays. Use 2.5" or 3.5" SATA drives as supported by your model, aligning each drive with the connector and seating it securely in its bay. If your enclosure uses screwless trays, simply slide the drive into place; otherwise, fasten with the included screws following the manual Guidance.
  • Step 3: Connect the enclosure to your computer or workstation. Use the Thunderbolt 2 cable for maximum performance on compatible Macs or the USB 3.2 cable for broader system support. If you’re using a mixed environment, you can switch between interfaces to suit your workflow without swapping hardware.
  • Step 4: Plug in the external power adapter and power on the device. Allow a moment for the RAID controller to initialize, and listen for any drive activity indicators that confirm the system is ready.
  • Step 5: Initialize and format the drives if needed. On a Mac, open Disk Utility to initialize the drives and select a filesystem (APFS, Mac OS Extended, exFAT, etc.) according to your workflow. On Windows, use Disk Management to initialize and format the drives. If you’re configuring a RAID, use the included RAID control utility or the on-device switch (if present) to select RAID mode, then confirm the settings.
  • Step 6: Mount the volume(s) and begin transferring data. Create a backup plan or media library structure to match your project workflow. If you plan to edit directly from the external array, consider organizing by project and media type to streamline your editing software workflows.
  • Step 7: Install any necessary drivers or software provided by OWC for advanced RAID management or monitoring. While many functions work out of the box, the manufacturer’s utilities can help you monitor drive health, rebuild RAID, or retrieve status information during long-term projects.

Need more USB-C ports AND passthrough power?
Style: 4-in-1 USB-C Hub
This hub is very handy if you need to use multiple USB-C peripherals but still need passthrough power for your laptop, 65 watts in my case. I have not experienced any noticeable difference in transfer speeds or heat. Typical Belkin high quality, all the ports are tight and connections feel secure. I want to note that this unit will NOT allow HDMI functions via USB-C. I still need to plug my external display directly into the other USB-C port on my laptop. The only downside is that the surface of the hub is a high gloss black, which will scuff like crazy the first time you toss it into your backpack or set it on the table. Does not at all effect functionality but can be annoying for some. Otherwise, this is now one of my essential daily tech accessories.

Reduced Connecting To Desk Setup from four plugins to one.
Style: 8-in-1 USB-C Hub
Works great! Plugged in Ethernet, HDMI, USB-C power, and a USB-A Hub containing KBD,Mouse, two phone chargers, and worked first try without any configuring. Now only one plug to connect when the laptop is brought to the desk. Perfect!

Lots of slots to power devices all at once
Style: 7-in-1 USB-C Hub
Well made, good price, outlets precision sized so cords don't droop or fall out. Overall about as a compact as it could be. Enough power to plug into iPad and power phone, hearing aid charging box , and AA battery 4 slot charger. Worth paying a little more for more slots.

Be aware of bad units being sold right now.
Style: 4-in-1 USB-C Hub
These USED to be a 5 star product from me, I've lost count how many I have purchased and included built into my products I manufacture. All of 2025 NO ISSUES at all, battle tested in the photo event industry buy some very large companies I have as clients. Come 2026 and the last two batch orders I have purchased I have had to replace 10 of them within a 2 month window, all for different customers because they stopped working in a short amount of time. Something happened in the Belkin manufacturing of these hubs in the past 3 months and I have lost my confidence in the stock that is available right now, I have moved to another HUB manufacturer for my products. I even tried calling Belkin quietly to make them aware of this issue and could not get anyone who cared that they had bad units being sold. So now it's to be very public about this issue and to let people know to be aware there ARE bad units in circulation of these hubs. ALWAYS have a backup on hand just in case! Sorry Belkin, you need to have a better process to receive feedback from other manufacturers that use your products in theirs. I hope I can regain confidence again someday.
