The creative collaborations of engineers, artists, scientists, and curators over the past fifty years.

Artwork as opposed to experiment? Engineer versus artist? We often see two different cultural realms separated by impervious walls. But some fifty years ago, the borders between technology and art began to be breached. In this book, W. Patrick McCray shows how in this era, artists eagerly collaborated with engineers and scientists to explore new technologies and create visually and sonically compelling multimedia works. This art emerged from corporate laboratories, artists' studios, publishing houses, art galleries, and university campuses. Many of the biggest stars of the art world—Robert Rauschenberg, Yvonne Rainer, Andy Warhol, Carolee Schneemann, and John Cage—participated, but the technologists who contributed essential expertise and aesthetic input often went unrecognized.

Coming from diverse personal backgrounds, this roster of engineers and scientists includes Frank J. Malina, the American rocket pioneer-turned-kinetic artist who launched the art-science journal Leonardo, and Swedish-born engineer Billy Klüver, who established the group Experiments in Art and Technology (E.A.T). At schools ranging from MIT to Caltech, engineers engaged with such figures as artist Gyorgy Kepes and celebrity curator Maurice Tuchman.

Today, we are in the midst of a new surge of corporate and academic promotion of projects and programs combining art, technology, and science. Making Art Work reveals how artists and technologists have continually constructed new communities in which they exercise imagination, display creative expertise, and pursue commercial innovation.

Our Doodle's Fav Toy
Color: Multicolor
The first slothicorn toy that we received had a broken squeaker. We were able to quickly and easily get a replacement and send the broken one back. This is one of my pup's favorite toys, although I don't think the horn will last long-- it's the part she likes to chew on the most! At 5lbs, the toy is the same size as my Goldendoodle puppy. I think the toy is overpriced when not on sale (I got on Black Friday promo), so I would encourage waiting for a price drop before purchasing or locating another option that's affordable.

Not very durable if your dog likes to play aggressively with his toys.
Color: Shello There
My yorkie loves it. However he removed the rope tail tail on day one. Within a couple of days it came loose at the seem from chewing and he started pulling the stuffing out. I won't give back to him until I am able to mend it.

Puppy Crack!
Color: Pollen for You
Because its her only toy that crackels and the daisy (as in DaisyMae) flower moves up and down on the rope. DaisyMae loves it! Bee squeaks, flower dont, both do crinkle. But if you have a jaws of life puppy always going for your feet, its a great leg workout too. Well buit rope is nice to place in between your toes. Great buy. Super cute! Win Win! Toys are on the smaller size, perfect for a baby puppy learning a squeaker toy. Maybe 6 to 8 inches each. A nice buy for 13bucks.

Our dogs favorite toy
Color: Multicolor
The slothicorn is our dogs FAVORITE toy. The rainbow coloring is so cute. She loves playing with the unicorn horn. The horn is starting to fall off, but it's lasted a while since this is her #1 choice to play with. Will order another when it finally needs to be replaced. 10/10.
