Written over roughly two years, the record reflects Jonas’ experiences during a period that included touring with the Jonas Brothers and marking the band’s twentieth anniversary. Lyrically, the album centers on themes of love, family life, and personal reflection, with Jonas describing it as a collection of stories drawn from different stages of his life and career.
The lead single, “Gut Punch,” was released on January 1, 2026. A deluxe edition followed shortly after the album’s release, adding two additional songs and a live version of the single. Sunday Best received generally positive reviews, with critics noting its stripped down production and more reflective tone. The album debuted at number 30 on the Billboard 200 and also appeared on the Top Album Sales and Top Vinyl Albums charts.
