A beautifully designed and handcrafted, original, mid century church pew / bench.

– Excellent restored condition

Unlike the majority of more traditional church furniture, this delightful pew features a stunning and unique mid century design. The pew is constructed from a combination of solid beech and sapele woods, which contrast beautifully. The design of these pews is superb, with beautifully splayed out legs which taper into a single form to the top, crafted from a single piece of solid beech. The seat is crafted from two pieces of solid sapele with a lovely rounded front edge.

These pews would work equally well in a residential home, placed in a hallway or used as seating in a kitchen or dining area. They would also be fantastic statement seating in a commercial environment, such as a bar or restaurant (we do have a number of these pews available at the time of listing, please get in touch if you interested in a larger quantity).

We reclaimed these pews from Hearsall Baptist Church in Earlsdon, Coventry, alongside additional complimentary pieces that share the same striking leg/base design. The church was erected in 1960 and was built using a striking mid century architectural design. (We have more information on this if required) This pew follows the same mid century aesthetic, which is very unusual for church furniture.

There is a fascinating insight into the construction of these very pews, alongside the opening of the new Church in the movie linked here - the footage of the pews begins at 7 mins 30 seconds.

This pew is in excellent restored condition, there are some polished in marks and blemishes, as to be expected for its age. Comes complete with brand new seat cushion, reconstituted foam insert and upholstered in a gorgeous boucle fabric which meets current domestic safety fire regulations. Please see the photos for more details.

Dimensions:

Height to back: 82cm
Height to seat (without cushion) 43cm
Height to seat (with cushion) 48cm

Total Width: 106cm
Seat Width: 99cm
Total Depth: 46cm
Seat Depth: 40cm

A unique piece of mid century furniture (and history) that would make a great addition to any vintage or contemporary home, or workplace.

Big Yet Mighty!
Format: Imitation Leather
I bought this one to give to a friend who is finally turning to Jesus! I already had a MacArthur ESV study Bible as it was recommended to me by my pastor. This Bible has in-depth introductions to every chapter and a many pages there’s more commentary than there is text of the Bible. This is a great tool to help you study the word of God and to give you better understanding it might not be the Bible you want to carry to church on Sunday because it is large and heavy.

Amazing detail and story
Format: Hardcover
We visited Chartwell in June 2023. I sure wish I had read this book prior to that visit. I was still able to scroll through my photographs and compare them with the book photos or comments. All in all the book is excellent. It manages to complete the story of Churchill in Exile and give the reader a glimpse of all the work he accomplished leading up to WWII. It also begs the question if given a leadership role earlier Churchill could have prevented the war in the first place. As someone who lost his uncle over France in 1943 that would have been nice. I highly recommend this book. A great man.

10/10 recommend
Format: Hardcover
Great book, especially if you're a fan on WWII or Winston Churchill! I never really dove into Churchill specifically before this book, but I was very impressed with how much influence he had leading up to the war, even when he wasn't a political official. It's also wild to think about how different things could have been if people took his warnings sooner. Overall I love the book and I think it's a very interesting read even if you're not that into history!
