Kenton-on-Sea, a popular holiday village, is situated between the mouths of the Bushmans and Kariega rivers. Its history as a permanent settlement is relatively recent, evolving from a holiday destination in the early 20th century. Many of the cottages in the town have been passed down through generations. The area was once part of the frontier between the Cape Colony and the Xhosa people. Today, Kenton-on-Sea is known as "The Barefoot Capital of the Sunshine Coast," celebrated for its tranquil beaches, river activities, and the surrounding natural beauty, including nearby game reserves.
