artist biography
Ann-Marie Ekbom-Wikström born September 24, 1925 in Västerås. She was a Swedish painter, print maker and textile artist.

She studied at the Konstfackskolan from 1945 to 1947 and at the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris from 1948 to 1952. Ekbom took self-study trips while traveling in Europe. In 1948 she married artist Sture Wikström.

Ekbom-Wikström exhibited extensively in solo and group exhibitions throughout her career. Select solo exhibitions included shows at Jönköping Museum, Galleri Jardin in Barcelona, ​​Hudiksvall Museum, Småland Museum and at SAS (Scandinavian Airlines) as well as  shows in Los Angeles, Västerås Vadstena, Sandviken, Hultsfred and Gävle. She exhibited alongside her husband Sture Wikström over two dozens times at different locations around Sweden.Group shows she exhibited in include several at the Smålands Salonen in Värnamo, a number of Föreningen Svenska Konstnärinnor (Association of Swedish Artists) at Liljevalch's art gallery, at Västervik's Summer Salons, and assorted exhibitions with provincial art shows. Outside of Sweden she exhibited at group exhibitions in Paris and Barcelona. 

She produced a number of public works during her career including artworks for St. Petri's church in Västervik, the Baldakinen in Borås as well as the Swimming Hall, the Gymnasium and the hospital in Västervik, a the fabric work Seasons in Gamleby municipal building and decorations in S:t Olofsgården in Köping. 

Ekbom-Wikström painted forest compositions, landscapes (particularly southern Europe, the Småland coast and Telemark mountain) executed in oil or gouache, as well as works in cast glass, textiles and colour lithographs.

Examples of her work are held in public collections including Jönköping Museum, Kalmar Art Museum, Småland Museum, Småland Art Archive, The State Art Council Oskarshamn Municipality, Halmstad Municipality, Ludvika Municipality and Mannaminne in Nordingrå.

She passed away at the age of 92 on May 6, 2018 in Gamleby.
