Because of this, the Sri Yantra is believed to be a strong symbol for the union of the masculine and the feminine divine.The nine main triangles also form 43 smaller triangles, which is said to represent the entire universe or cosmos. Eight lotus petals surround the triangles, while a larger ring of 16 lotus petals surround both. This is finally enclosed in a temple-like square, which contains four doors.
