How to Install ASRock Rack 2U4G-C621WS Barebone System

Installing this barebone server involves populating the chassis with the appropriate CPUs, memory, and storage, then configuring the system for optimal performance. Because this is a barebone, CPUs, memory modules, and drives are not included by default, so you will select and install components that meet your performance and capacity requirements. Follow these general guidelines to ensure a smooth, reliable build and deployment.

  • Plan and verify compatibility: Confirm processor model compatibility with the Intel C621 chipset and ensure your memory modules meet supported speeds and timings. Check power requirements and cooling solutions appropriate for a dual-socket 2U design to prevent thermal throttling in dense workloads.
  • Install CPUs and cooling: Open the CPU sockets and carefully install both compatible processors according to the motherboard’s guidelines. Apply thermal interface material and secure cooling solutions, ensuring proper seating and clearance for fans and airflow within the 2U chassis.
  • Populate memory modules: Install DDR4 DIMMs into the 12 slots following the recommended population order from the motherboard manual. Align modules for maximum speed and stability, and enable XMP or equivalent profiles in the BIOS if your workload benefits from aggressive memory settings.
  • Configure storage options: Insert NVMe drives into the M.2 slots and install any SATA drives into dedicated bays or backplanes as needed. Set up RAID configurations via the controller BIOS or RAID software to protect critical data and optimize performance for your applications.
  • Connect management, networking, and power: Attach management networks for IPMI/BMC access and connect required RJ-45 networks for cluster or storage communications. Install power supplies, verify proper airflow, and perform an initial power-on self-test to confirm fans, lights, and indicators operate correctly.
  • Initial boot and configuration: Power on and enter system BIOS/UEFI to configure boot order, CPU modes, memory timings, and RAID setup. Update BIOS firmware if needed and install your chosen operating system via bootable media or NVMe/RAID paths. Validate system stability with a baseline workload and monitor temperatures and fan speeds to ensure healthy operation.

My Female GSD loves
Size: Medium (2.5"), Style: Fetch Pack 1, Size: Medium (2.5"), Style: Fetch Pack 1
Shasta is my smallest. Six in December (2025) along with her brother. She’s 100 lbs and outside, completely ball driven see last picture. Don’t let the size (2.5”) of these Chuck-It balls deter you. If your larger Breed dog has any orthopedic issues, has already torn their ACL etc, one has arthritis but wants to play. This size is perfect! Shazzy was born with several ortho issues. I don’t throw balls distance but right to her. This size and lighter weight assure even when Shazzy is spazzy w excitement, she’ll catch the ball mid air. The green balls are softer, and glow in the dark. In summer we can play well past dusk and I can see them! Her personality shows in the pictures. Playing ball is part of her. These balls are just perfect for her situation. Somehow they disappear, she loves making baskets, puts them in my tractor bucket, or my gardening bucket..then get put in burn pile, trash etc. I keep replacing them because she’d look day and night if we actually ran out!! 🙏✝️👍🏼👍🏼

Great toy!
Size: Medium, Style: Ultra Tug
We have a 1 yr old rescue (German shepherd mix) and she didnt really know how to play with humans, she was scared of everything. We got this toy to help us teach her how to play fetch and tug of war and it really helped her come out of her shell. She loves this toy! It is very durable and fun to throw. Just enough rope to tug with her and doesn't come apart like other rope material. We got medium size and prob buy another one.

Durable
Size: Small, Style: Ultra Duo Tug
Well, our dogs didn't end up playing tug with each other, but they love the toy anyway and it still looks pretty good after a month. That doesn't sound like much, but they both love to chew and destroy rubber and they're ridiculously good at it. They also really like chewing the strap between the two balls, which is still in surprisingly good condition. Most "indestructible" toys are toast within the hour. Well worth the money. Plus, the unpredictable bounce when thrown keeps the dogs busy.

Good quality ball for large dog, easy to clean
Size: Large, Style: Ultra Tug
It’s challenging to review this because I bought it for my son’s dog, and it doesn’t interest him at all, even though he likes and plays with regular balls. The ball appears to be good quality, which is typical for this brand. He likes to play tug of war, so I thought the combination with a ball would be a hit. The strap looks durable, so time will tell if he develops an interest in playing with this at some point. The ball is hard rubber and fairly heavy, so it should hold up to an aggressive chewer. It doesn’t squeak or make any other noise. It bounces unpredictably and erratically because of the attached strap. Both the strap and ball are easy to clean with soap and water.
