One of Paul Reed Smith’s most iconic models, the McCarty 594 10-Top is an instrument that seamlessly blends Paul’s reverence for the golden age of guitar building with his dedication to improving the art of guitar innovation. A traditional mahogany body is the foundation for the McCarty 594 10-Top’s vintage-inspired tone, providing an exceptionally warm base tone that’s elevated with the crisp three-dimensional clarity of the maple top. Two McCarty III humbuckers perfectly translate the McCarty 594 10-Top’s unplugged tone into your favorite amplifier with gorgeous vintage-inspired warmth and clarity in tone. A chunky mahogany Pattern Vintage profile neck completes the vintage-meets-modern formula with a 10-inch radius rosewood fingerboard that unlocks PRS’s signature effortless playability up and down the neck. Top it all off with the rock-solid pairing of a PRS 2-piece bridge and PRS vintage-style tuners, and the McCarty 594 10-Top is definitive proof that the golden age of guitar building is still going strong in Stevensville, Maryland.

Time-tested tonewood combination

From their one-of-a-kind Private Stock custom creations to their SE line, PRS is wholeheartedly dedicated to the idea that superior tonewoods result in superior tone. This McCarty 594 10-Top more than fulfills that philosophy with a tonewood combination that can trace its lineage all the way back to the early ’50s: maple-topped mahogany. The mahogany forms the core of this guitar’s body, adding heft and weight to your every note; in contrast, the maple top imparts an articulate edge that allows everything from single-note lines to roaring rhythm work to cut right through a band situation. It’s a formidable tonewood duo, and there’s a good reason why the vast majority of PRS guitars harness its sonic potential!

Chunky Pattern Vintage neck profile

This guitar’s Pattern Vintage profile clocks in on the chunkier side of the spectrum, featuring a distinct asymmetrical profile that conforms to your grip, from the base all the way to the neck joint. While it’s a thicker shape, it’s by no means clunky — oUR guitarists across all styles have come to favor the Pattern Vintage profile for its comfortably full feel. Combined with the McCarty 594 10-Top’s slightly shorter 24.594-inch scale length, this guitar brandishes a decidedly old-school flavor that’s all but guaranteed to resonate with vintage 6-string enthusiasts.

Dual-coil power, single-coil clarity

The McCarty 594 10-Top brings forth an onslaught of classic tones thanks to its complement of proprietary PRS pickups. Stationed at the bridge and neck, respectively, are coil-splittable McCarty III treble and bass humbuckers, which were first seen on the limited-run Private Stock 40th Anniversary McCarty Dragon guitar. The McCarty III neck pickup delivers plenty of rich, full-bodied vintage warmth. Throaty but clear, the McCarty III bridge pickup conversely produces a crisp, chimey, clean tone that’s easy to pull grit from with the Volume knob or aggressive pick attack. When overdriven, the tone of both pickups thickens while still remaining articulate, perfect for complex chords or searing lead lines. Not satisfied? Pull up on either Tone pot for instantaneous single-coil action!

Only a 10-Top will do

Curl, flame, quilt, and spalt: even in the early days of Paul Reed Smith’s guitar building, the company had a reputation for the sheer quality of figuring on their maple tops, with dazzling lines and grain patterns that make any plain top pale in comparison. Naturally, customers began to call in and request that their instruments be built with “a nice-looking top” — far too vague a term for the tonewood scientists in Stevensville, Maryland. Thus, the 10-Top designation was born: a lofty status that requires a “clearly defined figure across the entire top,” leaving no doubt that the guitar will arrive capped with a superlative piece of timber.

Thin, summer weight throw, quality could be better
Color: Southern Blues, Size: Throw (50 in x 60 in), Color: Southern Blues, Size: Throw (50 in x 60 in)
This is a very light weight blanket and the "fleece" is no where to be seen. The blanket looks like cotton but has a very synthetic feel to it. Three layers implies some weight but it is thin. The construction is sloppy, see images, where the stitching looks slap dash to the point where it cannot be reversed. I liked the color, the blue is a little on the aqua side but it is a very nice calming hue. The stitching is quilt like and nicely done. I noticed other reviews felt like it was a medium weight but the only time I would use this would be to use as a cover if the AC went out. To me, the blanket is decorative and not particularly useful.

Average quality lightweight throw, not sold on the color
Color: Southern Blues, Size: Throw (50 in x 60 in), Color: Southern Blues, Size: Throw (50 in x 60 in)
This blanket is fairly soft and lightweight, and better suited for the summer months. I don't think the texture and "Southern Blues" color looks as nice in person as in the photos; less cozy and more like a spare blanket you might find in a hotel closet. Interestingly the care tag says that the outer faces are cotton, but the blanket feels polyester and the content tag indicates the same. The stitching and durability feel ok, and it will probably hold up for the occasional machine washing and low heat drying. Overall it's a fine warm season throw but not particularly notable. I would probably recommend one of the darker colors.

So easy to wash!
Color: Southern Blues, Size: Full/Queen (90 in x 90 in), Color: Southern Blues, Size: Full/Queen (90 in x 90 in)
Two things I love about this coverlet: 1. It's so much easier to wash than a duvet! Or even a duvet cover or a regular blanket, for that matter. The queen-size coverlet fit easily in my washer, and I could have put in another if I had had one. It stayed loose and balanced in the machine - the washer didn't have to readjust its balance during the spin cycles. In the dryer, it didn't wad up into a ball that had to be shaken out every few minutes. It came out feeling softer and looking good, with no wrinkles. 2. It's thinner than a duvet and suitable for warm weather, yet those three stitched layers give it substance and weight that I find more comfortable than sleeping under a pile of fluff or a bed sheet. The soft pastel green color with cream lining (not really reversible due to the hem) is fresh and reminiscent of the 1950s coverlets that my grandmother made. Crocheting was one of her passions, and she'd create huge lacy doilies that lay across the foot of the coverlet. Very pretty look.

Great summer blanket.
Color: Black, Size: Full/Queen (90 in x 90 in)
I purchased this Berkshire 3-layer fleece blanket, and it has quickly become my go-to for my queen size bed. It fits perfectly with plenty of overhang, making it look great as a top layer or a middle layer. What I love most is the breathability. While the material is technically fleece, the 3-layer design provides a nice "cotton-like" feel that doesn't feel heavy or stifling. I tend to sleep hot, and this blanket does a fantastic job of keeping me cool and comfortable through the night while still providing just enough cozy warmth. At this price point, the value is good. It feels much higher quality than other thermal blankets I’ve tried, and it holds up well in the wash without pilling or losing its softness. If you're looking for a versatile, lightweight blanket that works year-round, this is a solid choice. Highly recommended!

Soft, Warm, lightweight, Cozy
Color: Cream, Size: Full/Queen
When I first received this blanket I washed it by itself in cold water with detergent. I did not use a fabric softener or a fabric sheet. I air dried it completely and then put it in my dryer on air fluff for 10 minutes. No shedding and it came out just like I received it. I was concerned about shedding with some of the reviews but I had no issues with that whatsoever. It's warm yet lightweight. I didn't want anything that would make me overly hot because I'm always hot anyway. It takes that cool edge off when you still want your overhead fan on. My daughter said she likes it better than the one she has. I can't remember the brand. I feel it has a good quality. Just make note to wash it as instructed and it'll hold up well and look just as nice as the way you bought it. I'm not sure how the other reviewers that didn't leave 5 stars washed there's, but it couldn't have been the correct way.
