QUEST Gel equine dewormer is recommended for early grazing season. According to the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) Parasite Control Guidelines, small strongyles are the most important parasite to target with treatment in horses 9 months of age and older. The AAEP Guidelines consider moxidectin - the active ingredient in QUEST Gel - the parasite experts' treatment of choice against small strongyles (both adults and encysted larvae).1 This effective horse dewormer also provides broad-spectrum treatment for large strongyles (bloodworms), bots, pinworms, hairworms and stomach worms. One syringe treats horses weighing up to 1,500 pounds, and the unique gel formula dissolves on the horse’s tongue, making deworming easy!

Together, QUEST Gel and QUEST PLUS Gel represent a 20+ year legacy.

Indications

QUEST® Gel is indicated to treat and control encysted small strongyles, adult small strongyles, large strongyles (bloodworms), pinworms, hairworms, adult large-mouth stomach worms, horse stomach bots and ascarids.

HOW IT WORKS

QUEST Gel equine dewormer is recommended for early grazing season, which is March - May, depending on your location in the United States. Moxidectin, the active ingredient in QUEST Gel, is the parasite experts' treatment of choice against small strongyles (both adults and encysted larvae),1 and provides broad-spectrum treatment against numerous other parasites. One syringe treats horses weighing up to 1,500 pounds, and the unique gel formula dissolves on the horse’s tongue, making deworming easy!

What Is It For?
QUEST Gel is an equine dewormer recommended for administration during early grazing season in horses 9 months of age and older. This effective horse dewormer also provides broad-spectrum treatment for large strongyles (bloodworms), bots, pinworms, hairworms and stomach worms.

How Effective Is It?
According to the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) Parasite Control Guidelines, small strongyles are the most important parasite target with treatment in horses 9 months of age and older. In studies, moxidectin was significantly more effective in treating small strongyles than fenbendazole, the active ingredient in Panacur® Powerpac.2,3,4

Dosage and Administration
As treatment doses are based on the weight of the animal, use a scale or weight tape to determine each animal’s weight before treating with QUEST® Gel.

Once an accurate weight is known, treat each horse or pony as follows:

  • Adjust the ring to your animal’s weight and lock into place.
  • Make sure there is no feed in the animal’s mouth.
  • Remove the cap from the end of the syringe. Save the cap for reuse.
  • Place the tip of the syringe inside the animal’s mouth at the space between the teeth.
  • Gently push the plunger until it stops, depositing the gel on the back of the tongue.
  • Remove the syringe from the animal’s mouth and raise the animal’s head slightly to make sure he swallows the gel.
  • Replace the syringe cap.

How Does It Work?
QUEST Gel and QUEST PLUS Gel are the only equine dewormers that treat encysted small strongyle larvae and bots in a single dose.

QUEST Gel is safe for use in breeding and pregnant mares, as well as breeding stallions.

Safety Information

  • Do not use QUEST Gel or QUEST PLUS Gel in foals less than 6 months of age or in sick, debilitated and underweight horses. Do not use in other animal species, as severe adverse reactions, including fatalities in dogs, may result. Consult your veterinarian for assistance in the diagnosis, treatment, and control of parasitism.
  • Store at or below 77° F (25° C).
  • Avoid freezing.
  • If frozen, thaw completely before use.
  • Store partially used syringes with the cap tightly secured.

Overall it was an OK book. I am already ...
Format: Paperback
Overall it was an OK book. I am already "competent" with DNS, specifically the BIND9 implementation but I got the book as reference material since the official documentation is a little sparse. The fifth edition (not sure about the others) even covers, albeit a little too briefly, how to deal with reverse lookup zones with subnet masks that do not fall on octet boundaries.

Thicker than I anticiapted
Format: Paperback
The encyclopedia of DNS books, meaning thicker than a phone book. I like the fact that this book is thick but so easy to read and follow along with. If you know nothing about DNS, this book makes it easy to learn about DNS. It starts with the history of DNS and then explains the hierarchy of the DNS tree. A must read if you want to improve your understanding of the internet and what happens under the hood for name resolution.

Best practical book on DNS and how it works
Format: Kindle
I was interested in finding out more about how DNS is deployed and operated in practice. The first few chapters in this book deliver very well in this regard. My motivation was to find out more about how a certain type of Internet attack -- the "open DNS resolver attack" -- works. Even though this book was written well before this attack became popular and well known -- and therefore the attack is not mentioned, let alone analyzed -- the book was still quite helpful to me.
