The Lantronix LM83X 56-Port Console Server is the pinnacle of out-of-band management, purpose-built for IT teams that demand uncompromising reliability, scalability, and control over every serial-connected device. Designed from the ground up as a modular platform, the LM83X can operate independently from the network to continuously monitor, manage, and command a large fleet of gear via a single serial console connection. As the fifth generation Local Manager, this console server blends rugged hardware with a flexible software stack to deliver real-time visibility, proactive diagnostics, and centralized control for data centers, branch offices, edge locations, and distributed IT infrastructure. Whether you’re safeguarding critical gear in a data center rack or maintaining remote deployments, the LM83X provides a dependable, scalable, and secure solution for persistent access and automation across complex environments.

  • Scale with confidence: The LM83X starts with 56 serial ports in its base configuration and is engineered to manage up to 104 devices through modular expansion. This design lets you grow your out-of-band management footprint without overhauling your console server infrastructure, protecting your initial investment while accommodating expanding device populations and evolving maintenance needs.
  • Network-independent reliability: Built to function without relying on continuous network availability, the LM83X delivers true out-of-band management. In scenarios where the primary network is compromised or temporarily unavailable, you can still access console sessions, power-cycle devices, capture logs, and perform essential maintenance tasks—minimizing downtime and accelerating recovery.
  • Security you can trust: Security is integral to the LM83X, offering strong authentication and encrypted access to serial consoles. Detailed event logging and audit trails provide traceability for compliance, troubleshooting, and post-incident analysis, ensuring that every connection and action is accountable and auditable.
  • Unified administration and automation: A streamlined management interface—coupled with a robust command-line option—enables efficient provisioning, configuration, and device control. Port-based profiles, automation hooks, and scripting capabilities help operations teams standardize deployments, reduce manual steps, and accelerate routine maintenance across hundreds of devices.
  • Rugged, adaptable deployment for modern IT: The LM83X is purpose-built for demanding environments, delivering a rack-mountable, modular console server that supports centralized control of distributed gear. Its design accommodates data centers, edge sites, and remote locations where reliable console access is essential for ongoing operations, firmware updates, and rapid incident response.

How to Install Lantronix 56-Port LM83X

  • Plan your deployment: Assess your environment, determine the devices to be managed, and map each serial port to the target device. Create a port labeling plan to simplify ongoing administration.
  • Prepare the rack: Install the LM83X in a standard 19-inch rack with proper ventilation. Ensure cable management space to maintain airflow and reduce strain on connectors.
  • Connect serial devices: Attach the serial cables from your network equipment, servers, or other gear to the 56 ports in the base configuration. Label cables clearly to prevent misconfiguration during future maintenance.
  • Power up and access management: Connect the LM83X to power and verify boot completion. Use the local management port or console to access the setup interface. If applicable, connect the unit to your management network or manage it entirely offline depending on your security policy.
  • Initial configuration: Run the built-in setup wizard to configure authentication, access methods, and logging preferences. Define device profiles or port groups to standardize settings across multiple ports.
  • Enable out-of-band control: Enable features for remote sessions, console access, and event monitoring. Establish alert thresholds and notification channels so critical events trigger timely responses.
  • Test and validate: Open representative serial sessions to confirm device reachability, capture onboarding logs, and verify that all intended devices are accessible through the LM83X. Document the configuration for audits and future maintenance.
  • Document and maintain: Maintain an up-to-date inventory of port mappings, device profiles, and access credentials. Schedule regular reviews of firmware and security configurations to keep the system resilient against evolving threats.

Durable
Color: S6-muti-color
The balls are great for chewers. The squeaky didn’t last long but they are perfect for the ball launcher.

The squeeker isn't durable, but the balls themselves are.
Color: S6-muti-color, Color: S6-muti-color
I have two 70+lb, ball obsessed dogs (a field bred Golden Retriever, and an Old Time Scotch Collie), and these balls are living up to the abuse they're receiving. In the fall we always lose a ball or two in the yard due to getting lost in leaves or longer grass, so I always try and buy a multi pack at the start of the season, so went with these this year. I'm glad I did. Great price for a 6 pack, they fit the medium Chuck-It launcher (a little loosely, but they throw just fine), have great bounce, they FLOAT (which means I didn't lose any at the beach), and they're super durable to the dreaded "mouth squish." The squeaker dies pretty quick, like, within a day, but it isn't the kind that can fall out or choke your dog, so no worries there. The boys are happy, I'm happy, my wallet is happy - I've already ordered another pack.

Great Value for a ball my dog loves!
Color: S6-muti-color
I wish these ball were in the subscription program! My dog gets sooo excited by the new ball, but her interest in things lasts for a few days. She kills the squeak within 11minutes, but the squeaker stays in place rather than becoming a chocking or swallow hazard, and she still loves to chew it. Next, we must throw the ball approximately 723 times the first day, possibly 496 times on day 2, and just 3- 4 on day 3, at which point she will chase the ball before hollering "it's over here if you need it," while she checks on the chipmunk den. We currently have 17 of these balls in our yard (because we have given several leftovers to a less discriminating doodle next door). These balls hold up really well, get her extremely active for the first couple of days, and are a much cheaper than doggie daycare (after an active morning with a new ball, she is happy to chew on it and sleep much of the day). I always have these on hand!
