Meet the ATEN 1 User 8-Port Cat5 IP KVM, a compact, dependable solution engineered for remote management of up to eight servers from a single console. Designed with small to mid-sized IT environments in mind, this IP-based KVM switch consolidates control, eliminates routine rack-to-rack travel, and accelerates day-to-day administration. Its Cat5 IP connectivity enables flexible placement within data centers or remote sites, while maintaining a seamless local experience. Whether you’re troubleshooting a failing host, performing routine reboots, or applying routine maintenance windows, this KVM switch puts centralized server access at your fingertips, reducing downtime and boosting operational efficiency.

  • Centralized control from a single console: Manage up to eight servers through one interface, streamlining maintenance workflows and dramatically lowering the need to visit multiple racks. This model targets one-user-at-a-time operations, ensuring focused, conflict-free access during critical tasks and preserving clean, orderly session management across your data center.
  • Space-saving, rack-friendly design: Engineered for compact deployments, the 8-port Cat5 IP KVM fits neatly into standard IT environments where space is at a premium. Its compact footprint supports clean cable runs and simplified cabling, helping you maximize your rack density without sacrificing control or performance.
  • Reliable IP-based remote access: Connect over your existing Ethernet network to reach your servers from anywhere on the campus or remote site. The IP-enabled architecture enables fast, responsive remote sessions so administrators can diagnose issues, perform reboots, or apply updates without physical presence—critical for keeping service levels high and MTTR low.
  • Secure, policy-driven access: Built to support authentication and access controls for remote sessions, so you can enforce who can view and control the servers. This focus on secure remote management helps protect sensitive systems and maintain compliance across your IT environment.
  • Plug-and-play installation with easy management: Get up and running quickly with a straightforward setup that connects to your servers and your network. The intuitive management interface enables fast onboarding, straightforward port mapping, and real-time status monitoring so you can begin remote administration almost immediately after deployment.

How to install Aten 1 User 8-Port Cat5 IP KVM

  • Plan your deployment by inventorying the eight servers you intend to connect and selecting a suitable location that provides access to power and network connectivity.
  • Mount the KVM switch in a suitable rack space or place it on a stable surface near a power outlet and your network switch. Ensure adequate ventilation and cable management to maintain airflow and ease of maintenance.
  • Connect each server to its dedicated KVM port using the recommended KVM cables or the cables specified by ATEN for your model, adhering to best practices for labeling and cable routing to minimize interference and maintain clarity in the rack.
  • Connect the KVM to your network: attach an Ethernet cable to the device’s IP network port and link it to your switch or router. If your environment uses DHCP, you can obtain an IP address automatically; otherwise, configure a static IP through the on-device interface or initial setup wizard.
  • Power on the KVM and the connected servers. Access the local console to verify basic operation, then open your preferred browser or ATEN client software to reach the KVM’s management interface. Configure administrator credentials, define user access policies, and set up IP-based remote access rules to establish secure remote connectivity.
  • Test both local and remote access: log in from the attached console and from a remote workstation to ensure latency, video quality, and control functions meet your reliability standards. Fine-tune port mappings, hotkeys, and session preferences as needed, and enable any available logging or auditing features for ongoing governance.

Great for big chewers
My dogs have to have these. Have to. When I come home from work they each grab one and prance around like they just caught a moose or something. This past weekend my big boy doodle wanted me to toss it to him like I do his tennis ball. He kept dropping it for me to toss. It was hard explaining that it would be the worst boop he ever felt. Ok, lets talk about longevity. I've had these for over a month and they still look great. Barely looked chewed at all. These are tough and poodles supposedly have soft mouths but mine chew on these a lot. They are large. My female is 60 pounds and my Dood is 90. These chew toys keep my pets engaged when I am busy doing all the things at home so that takes some pressure off of me. I would buy them again for sure.

It's indestructible because your dog won't touch it.
It's made of hard plastic and has a weird odor. Both of my dogs just looked at it, smelled it and walked away.

Great Teething Toy for an Active Puppy
Our 6-month-old Goldendoodle has really enjoyed chewing on these rings. They’ve been especially helpful while she’s been teething, and so far she hasn’t made a dent in them, which is impressive given how much she chews. There’s clearly some sort of flavor or scent on the toy that makes it especially attractive to her, so it keeps her engaged much longer than some other chew toys we’ve tried. The rings feel durable, well made, and are a great way to keep an active puppy occupied. Highly recommend for teething puppies or dogs that are aggressive chewers.

Super hard plastic
This might be okay for big dogs but my little dogs are not interested at all. I’ve heard if you can’t make an indentation w/ your thumb nail, it’s too hard and your dog could chip or break a tooth…

My aggressive chewer had it roughed up in about 10 minutes, and she lost interest.
Both of my dogs were interested in these right away and started playing with them as soon as I gave them to them. After the first day though, they lost interest. They’ve had them for a couple of weeks now and I can’t really get them to go back to them. These aren’t squeaky toys, which is usually what they prefer, so that may be part of it. The size is decent and works for both of my dogs. My smaller dog isn’t much of an aggressive chewer, but she did chew on it some. My bigger dog is an aggressive chewer (about 85 lbs), and she had this one roughed up pretty quickly. After about 10 minutes, it already had some sharp, jagged edges. That makes me a little concerned about safety since it could scratch her mouth. As far as chew resistance and durability, it didn’t hold up the way I expected for something advertised for aggressive chewers. For value, it’s not the best considering how quickly it wore down and the lack of continued interest from my dogs.
