Lady Gaga's Mayhem, released March 7, 2025, via Streamline and Interscope, sees her collaborating with producers Andrew Watt, Cirkut, and Gesaffelstein. Recorded at Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La studio in Malibu, the album was preceded by three singles: "Disease" (October 2024), "Abracadabra" (February 2025), and the Bruno Mars duet "Die with a Smile" (August 2024), which won a Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
Inspired by industrial and electronic music, Mayhem blends ‘90s alternative, electro-grunge, funk, and French electronic influences. Gaga described it as "utter chaos," embracing genre fluidity despite criticism for not sticking to one style. Critics largely praised the album. The Guardian called it a reaffirmation of her pop instincts, while Rolling Stone UK likened it to a microcosm of her career. NME highlighted its maximalist approach, and The Times hailed it as a triumphant return to her pop roots. Some, like Slant Magazine and Financial Times, found it less compelling. Mayhem holds an 85/100 on Metacritic, reflecting widespread acclaim.
