Canada's own real yodelling cowboy, Wilf grew up around farms, horses and rodeos and is remembered in the Calgary Horsemen's Hall Of Fame. Known in the USA as "Montana Slim" he developed a huge following around the world. He recorded prolifically, starting in 1933 and recording into the 1990s. Also a prolific songwriter, he wrote literally hundreds of songs about life on the plains. Here are unique versions of both western and country songs including many much-loved classics. A fine yodeller, he was an inspiration and a major influence on country singers around the world including America's Slim Clark and Slim Whitman, England's Brian Golbey and Australia's Slim Dusty, Reg Lindsay and Frank Ifield. These recordings were made in the late 1950s and feature him with some of Nashville's best musos as well as some tracks with just his own guitar accompaniment. If you like fiddle, steel, a yodel and a powerful voice, then Wilf's your man. Most of the tracks here never previously released in the UK.
