Engineered for enterprise storage, the Accortec 1 TB NL-SAS hard drive blends capacity, speed, and reliability into a single high-performance solution for servers, storage arrays, and backplanes. This 3.5-inch internal drive is optimized for nearline workloads, delivering steady streaming performance for backup archives, media libraries, virtualization storage, and data-intensive applications. With a 7200 RPM spindle, a robust SAS interface, and hot-swappable design, it provides dependable data access and simplified maintenance in demanding data-center environments. Whether you’re expanding a RAID array, refreshing an archival pool, or provisioning new capacity for a growing business, this NL-SAS drive is built to handle continuous operation while maintaining consistent throughput and low-latency response for frequently accessed files, large media files, and database-backed workloads. In short, Accortec combines power, endurance, and ease of management to keep your data accessible when it matters most.

  • High-capacity 1 TB nearline storage in a rugged 3.5" form factor, ideal for enterprise servers, SANs, NAS devices, and large-scale storage arrays that demand dependable, large-scale data retention and quick access to files.
  • 7200 RPM spindle speed delivers strong sustained performance for sequential reads and writes, helping to accelerate backups, media streaming, and large data transfers while maintaining consistent latency under load.
  • 12Gb/s SAS interface with Near-Line SAS architecture supports fast data transfer rates and efficient pathing to backplanes, enabling high-throughput I/O for mixed workloads without becoming a bottleneck in busy data centers.
  • Hot-swappable design minimizes downtime in supported enclosures and RAID environments; you can replace or upgrade drives on the fly without powering down servers, keeping service levels intact during maintenance or failure events.
  • Built-in caching and an optimized data path improve responsiveness for frequent file access, making everyday tasks—saving documents, opening images and videos, and streaming data—feel instantaneous even when handling large datasets.

How to install Accortec 1 TB NL-SAS Hard Drive

  • Power down the server or storage enclosure and disconnect power to ensure safe handling of internal components.
  • Open the drive bay or remove the current drive from the hot-swap slot following the enclosure’s maintenance procedures and anti-static precautions.
  • Align the Accortec NL-SAS drive with the backplane connector and gently slide it into the bay until it seats firmly and the connector engages securely.
  • Connect the SAS data and power backplane cables as required by your enclosure or RAID controller. Ensure cables are routed neatly to avoid obstruction or signal interference.
  • Secure the drive with the appropriate screws or mounting mechanism provided by the backplane or carrier and reassemble the enclosure.
  • Power on the system and verify that the drive is detected by the BIOS/RAID controller. Proceed to initialize or import the drive within your operating system or RAID management utility, and run a SMART health check to confirm drive health before placing it into an active workload.
  • If integrating into a RAID array, follow your controller’s guidance to add the new drive to an existing array or create a new volume, then format and assign the volume to the desired file system.

Frequently asked questions

  • What does NL-SAS mean? Near-Line SAS combines traditional SAS reliability with higher-capacity, nearline drives designed for storage arrays and backup workloads. It’s optimized for sequential access patterns and large, streaming data workloads common in archiving, media libraries, and data vaults.
  • Is this drive hot-swappable? Yes. The Accortec 1 TB NL-SAS drive is designed to fit into hot-swap backplanes, enabling drive replacement without powering down the host system in compatible enclosures.
  • What systems is it compatible with? It is intended for servers, RAID controllers, and storage arrays that support NL-SAS drives and 12Gb/s SAS backplanes, including enterprise NAS, SAN, and large-scale virtualization environments.
  • How do I configure it in a RAID array? Install the drive in an appropriate slot, then use your RAID controller’s management utility to initialize the disk, add it to an existing array or create a new one, verify health via SMART, and complete any required rebuild operations according to your controller’s guidelines.
  • What workloads is it best suited for? The drive excels in nearline storage, backups, archival storage, and steady-state file serving. It’s well-suited for large media libraries, long-term data retention, and workloads that benefit from reliable, predictable performance over time.
  • Can I mix NL-SAS drives with other SAS drives in the same array? In most enterprise environments, NL-SAS drives can be combined with other SAS drives in a RAID array provided the controller supports mixed drive types and the array is configured to meet performance and redundancy requirements. Always consult your RAID controller’s compatibility and best-practice guidance.

Started w/ audiobook, now I'm ordering the print too
Format: Paperback
This book is GREAT!! The integration of theory she uses to support her claims is masterful. I began listening to the audiobook, because it was cheaper & I go through a ton of counseling & psych books. I am a grad student in social work, and I'm also a therapy client trying to heal myself. I appreciate that this book targets "chronic shame" which as a central experience to a bunch of issues. The hundreds of books and articles I've researched seem like they were mostly ALL working back to this issue. In a psychology culture that is big on cognitive and chemical solutions to mental health, the relational approach that she emphasizes is critical to the healing process. I appreciate the research she uses from object relations, affect regulation, interpersonal, etc. I purchased the hard copy because 1. I can't underline/highlight an audiobook and 2. I want a copy of the references of theorists and study's that she draws from, because they are pure gold. All therapists need to understand the contents of this book! Unless you are perfectly fine offering band aid solutions. Clients and self-helpers beware. It's not triggering in terms of content, it is activating in the sense that she describes the felt experience of shame SO WELL. I could locate my own felt sense of shame which is, by default, unpleasant. Some stabilization and a decent therapeutic connection is probably necessary before cracking this book open. But that's why I love it. I needed to go deeper and get the core issues. And this book is like a map that guides you right to it.

One of the best books on shame out there
Format: Paperback
As a shame researcher and educator, I often refer to DeYoung's book because it is so full of resources and relational tools for clinicians and individuals relating to the neurobiology of shame. It is a very small book with A LOT of information. Many references to the shame research and suggestions for treating shame in clinical practice from a perspective of right brain relationship dynamics. Thank you Patricia!

Highly recommend.
Format: Paperback
One of the most helpful, lucid, and comprehensive books on shame I've encountered. This was required reading for graduate school and is now one of my most returned to, dog-eared, and referenced books. Can't recommend enough.
