Discover enterprise-grade remote management with the Tripp Lite by Eaton 48-Port Serial Console Server. Designed to securely access and control a large fleet of serial and network devices from anywhere, this compact solution blends robust hardware with flexible deployment. Whether you manage a data center, a distributed office environment, or a remote branch, this 48-port console server delivers reliable, secure access to critical equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, PBX systems, and other network devices. Its USB ports, dual Gigabit Ethernet NICs, and generous 4 GB of flash memory support a wide range of maintenance workflows, while its desktop-friendly or 1U rack-mount form factor makes it suitable for a variety of installations. Built for CE and TAA compliance, this device is tailor-made for enterprise environments that demand secure, scalable, and easy-to-manage remote access to hardware infrastructure.

  • High-port-count serial access: 48-port serial console server capability enables central management of large hardware estates, reducing the need for on-site visits and enabling rapid response to device events.
  • Secure in-band and out-of-band access: Provides secure in-band management via primary network connectivity and optional out-of-band (alternate channel) access for maintenance, even when primary networks are down.
  • Flexible connectivity with USB and dual GbE: Two USB ports support local console connections and maintenance tasks, while dual Gigabit Ethernet NICs offer robust, fault-tolerant network reach and segmentation for management traffic.
  • Ample on-device storage: 4 GB of flash memory keeps firmware, logs, and configuration data readily accessible for fast recovery, auditing, and offline analysis during maintenance windows.
  • Compact, adaptable form factor: Desktop or 1U rack-mount design combined with CE and TAA compliance makes installation straightforward in office desks, IT closets, or data center racks.

Technical Details of Tripp Lite by Eaton 48-Port Serial Console Server

The Tripp Lite by Eaton 48-Port Serial Console Server is engineered to streamline the ongoing management of multi-device networks. Its core capabilities enable centralized control of serial and network devices, simplifying firmware upgrades, configuration changes, and issue triage across distributed environments. The device is built to withstand the practical demands of enterprise operations, balancing performance with ease of deployment. Key technical highlights include:

  • Port count: 48 serial console ports optimized for bulk device management and scalable operations.
  • USB ports (2): Provide convenient local access for maintenance tasks, portable storage, or direct console interfacing where needed.
  • Dual Gigabit Ethernet NICs: Redundant or segmented network paths for management traffic, with the flexibility to separate in-band and out-of-band channels as required by your security policies.
  • Flash memory: 4 GB of flash storage to hold firmware, logs, and configuration snapshots for quick recovery and audit readiness.
  • Form factor: Desk-top or 1U rack-mountable, enabling a wide range of installation options to fit space-constrained offices or data centers.
  • Compliance: CE and TAA compliant, meeting common regulatory requirements for enterprise deployments and government procurement.
  • Management style: Supports secure remote access through in-band and optional out-of-band channels, facilitating maintenance, troubleshooting, and firmware updates without interrupting primary network operations.

How to Install Tripp Lite by Eaton 48-Port Serial Console Server

Preparing your installation ensures the device is ready to deliver reliable remote access from day one. Follow these steps to set up the 48-Port Serial Console Server in your network environment:

  • Choose the mounting position: Decide between desktop placement for quick accessibility or 1U rack mounting for centralized hardware management in a server cabinet.
  • Connect network interfaces: Attach your management network to the Dual GbE NICs. If you plan to use out-of-band access, reserve one NIC for the primary network and designate a separate path for the alternate channel.
  • Link serial devices: Connect routers, switches, firewalls, PBX systems, and other serial-enabled devices to the 48 serial ports. If you have devices with differing voltage or interface standards, configure the console settings accordingly through the management interface.
  • Power up and access initial setup: Apply power and access the device through its default management IP or a local console if required. Use the USB ports for immediate maintenance tasks or to attach a console device during initial configuration if needed.
  • Configure security and access policies: Establish strong administrator credentials, enable encrypted management channels (SSH/HTTPS), and configure in-band and out-of-band access pathways in accordance with your security policy. Set up user roles and permissions to balance accessibility with protection against unauthorized changes.
  • Integrate management software and logging: If you utilize centralized management tools or SIEM systems, point the console server to those platforms for streamlined monitoring, alerts, and log retention. Enable remote logging to capture device changes, access events, and fault data for auditing.
  • Test remote access from multiple locations: Verify that you can reach devices across both in-band and out-of-band channels. Simulate maintenance operations to ensure your procedures work smoothly when network connectivity is interrupted.
  • Document the configuration: Record IP addresses, port assignments, user roles, and security policies. Maintain a changelog to facilitate future maintenance and troubleshooting.

They know the word "treatball"
My dogs love these treat balls. I give them one after each meal as a "dessert". I think it helps clean their teeth also, and it keeps them busy for a while.

Highly Recommend!!!
I bought a second set of these toys for my puppy who is a Chorkie because he LOVES them! They're super durable, very bouncy, extremely light weight, soft and flexible. They're the same size as a golf ball so they're perfect for small dogs. I would highly recommend these especially if you have a puppy who likes to chew and play fetch.

Perfect size and very durable! Flexible but sturdy.
Perfect for my Frenchton puppy. Easy to pick up in her mouth and they are flexible but sturdy. Unfortunately lost all three already, lol, so guess I’ll be buying more. 🤦‍♀️

More like a cat toy size ball. Still a good toy.
I should have paid more attention to the size as they are slightly bigger than golf balls. The ones I was looking for are identical but about the size of a grapefruit. My dachshund has one and it is her favorite ball toy. That's on me though. These are more of a cat toy size ball. These do look like they are the same material as my pups larger one which is durable and fun for her to throw and bounce. The holes make it easy for the pups to grab and run quickly or catch in mid-air. I'm not sure how other small dogs would do but these are too small to play tug-of-war with my little girl and she is definitely not as interested in them as she is with her bigger one. I think we will donate these to animal control since I am sure they have some small dogs or cats that would appreciate these more than our picky girl lol. Still a great toy but just not the size she likes.
