Panduit CT-1170 Controlled Cycle Crimp Tool

The Panduit CT-1170 Contour Crimp Ferrule Crimp Tool is engineered for precision, efficiency, and long-term reliability in high-volume electrical terminations. With a square-profile head and a controlled-cycle mechanism, this tool delivers high-quality ferrule crimps that are consistently uniform across large production runs. Designed for professional installers, panel builders, and manufacturing environments, the CT-1170 minimizes operator variability while maximizing crimp accuracy, ultimately improving overall wiring integrity and reducing rework. The ergonomic grip and multi-position locator enhance operator comfort and convenience, enabling precise work in a variety of positions and spaces. Built to withstand daily use in industrial settings, the CT-1170 pairs with Panduit Contour Ferrule Crimp Ferrules to deliver a flush, dependable termination that stands up to vibration, thermal cycling, and environmental exposure. Whether you’re wiring control panels, power distribution blocks, or automotive-grade assemblies, this tool provides the repeatability and quality that professionals demand. Its square-profile design aligns perfectly with ferrule barrels, helping ensure seating is square and consistent every time. In addition to performance benefits, the CT-1170 supports streamlined training and onboarding, as technicians quickly learn the controlled-cycle workflow and achieve repeatable results from the first job to the last. For teams seeking to maintain high workmanship standards with speed and confidence, the CT-1170 is a dependable choice that integrates well into established Panduit ferrule systems and manufacturing processes. The combination of durable construction, user-focused ergonomics, and precise control makes the CT-1170 an essential partner for reliable electrical terminations in industrial, commercial, and field service environments.

  • Controlled-cycle precision: A built-in mechanism limits stroke and delivers uniform crimps, ensuring every ferrule is seated and compressed correctly for dependable electrical connections. This reduces variations between operators and shifts, supporting consistent quality on every termination. The result is fewer reworks, faster throughput, and a professional, repeatable crimp profile across your panel assemblies.
  • Contour ferrule compatibility: Specifically optimized for Panduit Contour Ferrule Crimp Ferrules, providing clean, square crimps with a neat, professional finish. The tool’s geometry aligns with the ferrule’s contour, promoting a precise seat and minimizing misalignment that can compromise conductivity or mechanical security.
  • Square-profile head: The unique square profile aligns with ferrule barrels, promoting exact positioning and reducing the chance of mis-crimps or slippage during operation. This design supports rapid, accurate placement even in tight spaces, helping technicians achieve a high-quality finish with minimal effort.
  • Ergonomic grip with multi-position locator: The handle design reduces hand fatigue on long jobs and the locator offers flexible positioning to suit operator preference and access in tight spaces. The ergonomic balance improves control during repetitive cycles, contributing to consistent crimps and a more comfortable user experience over the course of a full workday.
  • Durable build for high-volume use: Built to withstand repetitive cycles in industrial settings, with robust construction and a corrosion-resistant finish to extend tool life. The CT-1170 is designed for reliability in production lines, field service, and installation projects where durability and performance are essential.

How to install Panduit CT-1170

  • Inspect the tool before use to ensure there are no visible damages and that the controlled-cycle mechanism moves freely. If any issue is detected, do not operate the tool until it has been serviced.
  • Load the Panduit Contour Ferrule Crimp Ferrule into the tool according to the ferrule manufacturer’s instructions, aligning the ferrule squarely with the crimp head for proper seating.
  • Grip the handle with a comfortable, neutral wrist position and engage the multi-position locator to reach the desired orientation for the task, maximizing access in constrained spaces.
  • Depress the handles smoothly to initiate the crimp. The CT-1170’s controlled-cycle action completes the crimp with consistent pressure and then resets automatically for the next cycle, reducing operator fatigue and variability.
  • Release and inspect the crimped ferrule. Verify that the ferrule is fully seated and the crimp profile is square and uniform. If adjustments are needed, reposition and repeat to maintain quality across terminations.

Needed a practical watch for everyday use and this fit the bill. Not too big, has a good sized watch face.

Nice looking, easy to read, comfortable silicone strap, hard to buckle.
Color: Black
This watch has all the features other Ironman watches have plus a 100 lap interval timer. The interval timer is possibly the reason this watch is slightly more expensive than the other IM variants with the same size and general appearance. I find this watch to be nicer looking when going out to dinner than the more common multi-colored IM watches, though most of the functions are available on the others. My previous Ironman watch had a resin strap, which was somewhate stiff when putting it on. It was comfortable enough wearing on the river, but later in the day I sometimes took it off for comfort. This watch has a soft, stretchy, more comfortable silicone strap, that, sadly, is hard to buckle and tuck-in.

Longtime Ironman Wearer -- I Hate This Watch
Color: Black
I've worn the old Ironman 100 Lap Watch for Years I would still be wearing those watches if the Indigo on them didn't consistently fail. My main requisite is large, easy to read digital display, and the ability to turn the Indiglo on 20 seconds a day once or twice to see time in dark. If I could have found a simple watch with a large display made by any other reputable manufacturer I would have bought it instead. I have truly come to dislike Timex because their Indiglo fails so consistently, on (5) different Ironman's I've owned. Doubt this one'll be any better, viewing it a disposable purchase after a year. Unsurprisingly, Timex is an American company, all marketing no quality, and yes I'm an American, looking at something Casio Seiko, Swiss or Japanese made. They get fundamentals right in terms of quality. The band on this is redesigned. Grippier. Tougher to adjust or put on, but more apt to stay on and not slide once on. I'm used to the old band, don't love or hate this new one. I will usually take my watch off while typing for a long time, not as easy to do with this, not a dealbreaker, can see the sense in making a swimming and exercise watchband a bit tougher. I hate the branding on this watch. Bright red Ironman logo on both ends of the band near the watch. Even worse is the Timex and Ironman words ATOP the glass on the watch. This means they throw shadows down onto the watch face below the glass. This effect gets even worse with the magnification underwater. Inexcusable design flaw, simply so some corporation can self-advertise its products. The combination of these two sets of branding make the watch look cheap, gaudy, and inappropriate for any remotely formal wearing. This would not have been the case if it was understated in color scheme. Without the two red marks on the band, and the absolutely moronic decision to place the branding on the watch glass, you have something understated you could get away wearing all the time. Not with the branding. There are also two lines running horizontally above and below the time. I hate these when I'm looking at it underwater. Haven't tried the lap functions yet, I usually open lake swim, maybe the lines help with that, but for my use I hate them. I'm 6'4" tall, people complain the watch is big, it feels to me if anything a bit undersized or the proper size, others may find it big. I would rather have a slightly larger size with bigger numbers. Biggest plus is time SUPER easy to read. I'd love to be able to turn date off and only have time display and nothing else in some mode. I don't need to check the date 6 times a day. Love to have mode where I press one button, upper left say, and date shows for five seconds or something. Indiglo about the same as old big Ironman 100, excellent--when it doesn't break which it almost always does. I have many of these watches where the time still shows but Indiglo never works, Timex themselves admitted to me this is a known problem. The rounder face, versus rectangular, better looks, but wonder if it is optimal way to make most readable. I would pass on this watch. I have always liked Ironman watches, but the branding is so bad, glass especially, and the absymal quality of Timex Indiglo, are unacceptable.

Color: Pink
Attractive watch. Simplistic, yet cannot understand everything without not having instructions. Watch did no come with instructions, which became hard to figure out all its functions.
