DSMBs meet on a regular basis to ensure that the expected benefits of a study continue to outweigh its risks and that side effects are monitored. They are empowered to recommend to study sponsors that studies be halted if ethical protections fail.
Written by bioethicist Deborah Barnbaum, who has served as a clinical ethicist and patient advocate on several DSMBs for the National Institutes of Health since 2006, this book combines compelling narratives about clinical trials, the ethical quandaries that emerge when overseeing those studies, and the theoretical considerations that guide the practices of DSMBs.

Comfortable but a bit shiny, does sting eyes

I really like the body and gel formulas in this line. This is a good addition, but not quite as good a fit for me.
It is very lightweight and easily to apply, and comfortable on the skin. It's fairly shiny but not in a greasy or wet-looking way, more glowy than dewy; I tend to prefer a soft matte finish for my oily skin, but this one is workable and would probably be great for dryer folks.
Unfortunately, it does move around a bit on the skin (according to my UV camera) and when it gets into my eyes it stings, which is very very common for chemical formulas from the US. I don't know if that will be an issue for people who aren't as sensitive as I am, but it's an important heads-up for those who are.
