"One of the fastest-rising talents on the Prague jazz scene." The Prague Post "Libor Šmoldas is, together with David Doružka, Petr Zelenka and also Roman Pokorný, among the leading Czech jazz guitar players." Harmonie "His trio plays rhythmical-solid music, which is significant for so called 'new Czech jazz generation', open, fresh, very own and with international qualities" Czech radio "This unique trio has a modern approach of contemporary jazz players but also respects jazz tradition, and that's the way it should be!" NajPonk "While his tone is entirely in keeping with the modern mainstream idiom, he tends to be more rhythmically assertive than a lot of the players he might cite as influences." AllAboutJazz Libor Šmoldas has been one of the busiest jazz guitarists on Prague's scene for last years. He studied at both the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory and it's Post-Secondary School. He plays with such legends of Czech jazz as Najponk, Jaromír Honzák, Radek Zapadlo, Yvonne Sanchez, Jirí Slavícek, Petr Dvorský, Josef Feco and David Doružka, and also musicians from abroad (Bob Montgomery, Steve Fishwick, Osian Roberts, Lukasz Zyta, Pavel Wlosok). Libor writes his own music, performing it mainly with his trio (CD On the playground, 2007). He is also a member of Ondrej Pivec's band Organic Quartet, with which he has performed at numerous European festivals (England, Germany, Austria, France, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania...) and recorded albums Never Enough and Don't Get Ideas. The album was awarded the 2006 Andel award for Best Czech Album in the jazz and blues category and was also widely praised in the international press. In 2005 he was awarded a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music. Šmoldas also teaches jazz guitar at the Post-Secondary School of the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory, and occasionally at New York University's Prague campus. Since 2008 he is a member of Czech Jazz Society's managing board. Libor Šmoldas was born on February 17, 1982 in Olomouc, but has lived in Prague since his childhood. He devoted himself to music at an early age, starting with the recorder and trumpet, then beginning to play guitar when he was twelve. After initial forays into rock and blues he began to take an interest in jazz, mainly due to his fascination with the recordings of Charlie Parker. At sixteen he was already appearing in Prague jazz clubs with the blues band of American singer Phil Speat, as well as at Sunday jam sessions at U Malého Glena. He took guitar lessons from Josef Kustka, Luboš Andršt, Zdenek Fišer and Petr Zelenka. After finishing primary school he attended the Evropská High School of Music in Prague before being admitted to the jazz guitar department of the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory as a student of Jirí Šindler in 2001. Two years later he transferred into the Conservatory's newly-opened Post-Secondary School, which is directed by Jaromír Honzák. There he studied under Petr Binder, Josef Štepánek and David Doružka; after graduating he himself became a professor of guitar and ensemble performance. In 2005 he went to Freiburg to audition for a scholarship to the prestigious American conservatory, the Berklee School of Music. Although he was awarded a scholarship, he decided to remain in Prague. That same year he played in Brazilian Mood, the band of Polish-Cuban singer Yvonne Sanchez, opening for Billy Cobham on a tour of Turkey and Cyprus. He performs regularly with organist Ondrej Pivec and his Organic Quartet at numerous European festivals, including Cheltenham, Sibiu, Kishinev, Prague Spring, Jazz Brno and the Phillips Jazz Festival Prague (winning the Phillips Festival award in 2005). Together with the quartet, he recorded the albums Never Enough (2007) and Don't Get Ideas (2006), the latter of which won the 2006 Andel award for Best Czech Jazz Album and was widely praised in both the Czech and international press. (AllAboutJazz, Hammondbeat USA, Music Web International, Harmonie, Lidové noviny). With the Libor Šmoldas Trio he performs mostly his own music, although the ensemble also accompanied American trumpeter Bob Montgomery at his 2007 concert in Prague as well as British trumpet player Steve Fishwick. The trio was also chosen to perform at prestigious festival Young Prague in 2007. The first CD of this group will be out in august 2007. Since 2006 he has also been performing with his wife, singer Vendula Šmoldasová, whose repertoire consists primarily of Brazilian bossa nova. Despite his young age, Libor Šmoldas is an inseparable part of the Prague jazz scene, working with the legends of Czech jazz as well as with promising young players. He teaches at the Jaroslav Ježek Post-Secondary School of Jazz and at New York University's Prague campus, composes his own music, and is generally considered one of the best Czech jazz guitarists.

After ***TOO MUCH*** Research
After ***TOO MUCH*** Research The Amazon ad for this product is so ambiguous that I thought I should do some research before taking this supplement. After AN HOUR AND A HALF of googling, for information I've decided to give this 2 stars. Initially, I was thinking 4 stars (that would have been 5 stars, but I'm not happy about all the googling I had to do about the ingredients), but I decided to lower it because after a great deal of research, I'm still not sure if I should take the label's full recommended dosage, or something lower. But I'm going to start here with the positive: The main things that convinced me to order it it is that it's made in the USA in an FDA registered facility that is GMP certified. and it's 3rd party lab tested. But even though that put my mind to rest about production, the ingredient list is ambiguous, and since there's no Medical Recommended Dosage, I want to know what a safe amount to take is. The ingredients and amount of the supplement provided are MUCH too ambiguous label says that 3 caps provides 1800 mg of organic turmeric (cucurma longa root), and 150 mg of turmeric 95% curcuminoids (cucurma longa root). So what's the difference between these 2 ingredients? And what does it mean, anyway? I read down the entire page, and at the bottom the Product Description notes that "each serving delivers 1950mg of turmeric curcumin, standardized to 95% curcuminoids". But that doesn't explain much. Does that mean that the entire 1950 mg is curcuminoids? Why are the amounts listed sepaerately in the ingredient list? I googled for information about the different ingredients, but I'm not sure how to interpret it. Here's what I found: * A page on the NIC (official US government site) notes that "curcumin is a major component of turmeric, and the activities of turmeric are commonly attributed to curcuminoids (curcumin and closely related substances)". * Another NIC page, noted "In Curcuma longa, crude extract curcuminoid makes up 1–6% of turmeric by weight, distributed in 60–70% curcumin...whereas commercially available curcumin contains about 77% in curcuminoids." * On a page for a vitamin company (not the manufacturer/distributer for this particular product), I read "Curcumin 95 is a botanical extract from turmeric root spice. Curcumin 95 contains 95% curcuminoids." But the label is so confusing. Does that mean that 95% of the entire "1950mg of turmeric curcumin, standardized to 95% curcuminoids" is the amount in 3 caps? Or is it 95% of the 150 mg of the turmeric 95% curcuminoids, listed as an ingredient? And what's a safe amounts to take. The results vary a lot. A page on the Arthritis Foundation site says, "In one small randomized controlled trial, twice daily doses of either 250 or 500 mg of curcumin were compared to placebo. Both doses significantly outperformed placebo on all measures." This site also recommends taking a supplement that includes black pepper (as this does) "for better bioavailability".

Turmeric curcumin & black pepper
These capsules come in a freshness and safety sealed bottle. They’re pretty large, but the vegan cellulose capsules swallow easily with a little water. A serving is 3 capsules, You really smell the black pepper extract and turmeric when you open the bottle. The suggested use is to take them 20-30 minutes before a meal.

This is a good one
I really like these for inflammation reduction. That means a more comfortable, more pain-free body. I feel less achy when using these and that helps me through my day. They don't need to be taken (by me anyway) every day. These generally keep the aches and pains beat back so I have more comfortable movement and feel the effects of getting older noticeably less. They just help me feel generally more healthy.

"Solid credentials and nice presentation"...
The product presents as a professional well made product. The site page could be improved a tad with details just to match up with the product received. "FDA registered" is a requirement so it's not an over-and-beyond move. However, GMP certified and 3rd party lab tested are and are nice pluses. Capsule size is MEDIUM. MG per capsule is 600 MG or more based on the label which is pretty good. Black pepper is known to aid in absorption so you always want to see that with turmeric and some other supplements that benefit from its addition. Made in the USA is great. Ingredients are sourced domestically and globally. It would be nice to know where they come from outside of the USA. This is a very solid option for turmeric.
