I’ve never seen a quilt quite like this one, and the moment I did, I knew it had to become part of the Sentimental Stitches collection. You’ve been asking for a new appliqué project, and I think this one is just perfect. It’s truly one of a kind — a little quirky, which only adds to its charm.
I can’t help but wonder about the story behind it. Did she have a few extra nine-patch blocks left over from another quilt? Were the album blocks and border pieces leftovers, too? And that bold red and green vine border — I’m not sure I completely understand it, but who am I to question the creativity of a quilter from the past? She had a vision, she followed it, and kudos to her for doing it her way!
The finished size of the quilt is 81" x 92".

There are 15 album-style appliqué blocks, each one with its own personality, and 15 double nine-patch blocks with a playful touch of appliqué right in the center. The vine-and-leaf border is a classic — the kind that wraps everything up with that unmistakable vintage charm.
Each month, via email, you’ll receive a color photo of the blocks, along with patterns for an applique block and a nine-patch block that you can easily rotary cut and machine piece. It’s the perfect mix of handwork and simple piecing — just the kind of project that invites you to slow down and enjoy the process.
Before you begin, dig deep into your fabric stash and pull out those favorite prints you’ve been saving for something special. The only fabrics you’ll need in larger amounts are your background, red, and green — and I’ve included the specific yardage for those so planning is easy.
This is a 12-month journey you’ll truly enjoy. Most months, you’ll receive one appliqué block and one nine-patch appliqué design, and a few times along the way, there’ll be a little surprise — two blocks instead of one!
It’s the kind of quilt that feels like it has a story to tell — and by the time you’ve finished, it will have yours stitched right into it.

You can work with whatever style of fabric you want. This quilt would be amazing with whatever you decide. Most of my favorite quilts are scrappy, and this one is no different.
I've kept the applique blocks "quirky" but feel free to adjust them if you want.
No matter what fabrics you decide to use, I know you'll enjoy making this beautiful quilt you can treasure for many years to come.
