When Spyderco combined brown canvas Micarta® handle scales with a CPM® CRU-WEAR® tool steel blade, we created an “instant classic.” Based on popular demand, we are proudly applying this old-school theme to our most in-demand models, including the venerable Native® 5. In this expression of the design, its full-flat-ground blade is crafted from tough CPM CRUWEAR and handsomely satin finished for low-friction cutting performance. Its sturdy back lock mechanism and stainless steel backspacer are couched between Micarta scales that are sanded smooth to naturally patina with age. Consistent with the Native 5’s symmetrical style, it includes a polished four-position hourglass clip that offers a choice of left or right-side, tip-up or tip-down carry. A stunning addition to our “Cru-Carta” family, this knife is sure to please both collectors and serious users alike.

Notes

This model, like the other backlock Native models, has no liners. That said, it still feels very rigid in hand with plenty of heft, imho. Also, the color will be very pale when new and will patina nicely over time, or you can darken the scales with mineral oil or some kind of wax - if you ask, I'll see if I have any Wicked Wax to give you for free.

Using geological and artistic reasoning to assess terrain/outcrops and sketch them realistically
Format: Hardcover
This book was surprisingly helpful in learning to see which featuers dominate a terrain and which details to ignore, which to focus on so that the scale and architecture are accurate. Handy for geologists, geographers and landscape artists.

Boggs jr. Review
Format: Hardcover
After reading several books on sedimentary petrology, this seems to be far away the best book of my list. Chapters on diagenesis are just delicious, both of clastic and carbonate rocks. Provenance, textures and structures are complete too, and sistematics are well organiced and complete. Very recommended, I choose Boggs Jr. It arrived in great conditions without any problems.
