artist biography
Knud Laursen was born on 23 April 1924 in Herning, Denmark. He studied under fellow Danish artists Ib Schmedes and Harald W. Lauesen in 1943, and under Børge L. Knudsen 1944-45.
Best known for his tightly composed simple, figurative and landscape compositions whose colour surfaces structure the motifs. Laursen works with painting, graphics and ceramics.
Laursen exhibited extensively - select exhibitions include: KE 1949; Herning painters, the art forums. for Herning and Omegn 1952; As. week, Vänersborg Mus., Sweden 1962; Vänorten Skive exhibits, Arvika Kunstforen., Sweden 1963; Society of Graphic Artists, Royal Inst. Gal., London 1968; VII Grand Prix Internat. or Contemp. Art of the Principality of Monaco 1971; Kimingen 1972, 1974; Palais des Beaux Arts, Brussels 1972; Moka Club Gal., Paris 1974; World Print Comp., San Francisco 1976.
