Extracted from an article in Tucson Weekly, on August 23, 2007, written by Margaret Regan:

In "Caerse de Habana" (The Fall of Havana), 2002, three old men are struggling to hold up a figure above their bald heads. They're decrepit caryatids long past their prime, but then so is the strongman they're trying to support. He's a fake, his body made of wood, pegged together at the joints, and he's collapsing. But Huerta's vision is too wild, too erotic--and too much fun--to be reined in by a single interpretation tied to contemporary politics. Elephant-headed old folks dance on a gargantuan pink birthday cake in "Feliz Cumpleaños" (Happy Birthday), 2003, just beyond a giant snake slithering in the hay around it. Above, the heads of four angry gods blow the small brushfire atop the cake into a conflagration. In other works, a tiny family sits on the precipice of a stove, just past a pot of boiling ship. A sexy woman with a cat's head writhes all naked on the shoulders of a man with a dog's head. Workmen on scaffolding lazily touch up the paint job on the face of a giant man.

Huerta practices what the Cubans call "lo real maravilloso" (the marvelous real), a counterpart to the magical realism in Latin-American literature. He counterbalances the realistic and the fantastic, placing recognizable figures, landscapes and buildings in impossible settings. He plays with imbalances of scale--see that mini-family on the stovetop--and "irrational space," juxtaposing sailing teacups with sailing ships.

Beautifully rendered in acrylics on canvas, his paintings are meant to look like oils, says Lisa Fischman, University Of Arizona Museum of Art curator. Even to the point that he's faked the sheen of oil glaze on top. He paints in a limited Old World palette, in browns, golds, yellows and ambers, with jolts of pale blue or red here and there. Some passages are thinly stained with color, while others have deft layerings of thick paint. Occasionally, Huerta allows paint to drip vertically all across the canvas, like rain, or tears.

The landscape of Cuba, often a backdrop to the fantastic goings-on, emerges in soft, blurry rows of palm trees and glints of light on rooftops. The sea greens of the Straits of Florida shimmer, and sunset skies turn chalky yellow.

The Old Masters can take credit for some of Huerta's wildness. His crazy machines have their roots in Leonardo da Vinci's drawings of flying contraptions, moving dykes, pulleys and cranks. Huerta's fantastic creatures, half-human, half-animal, and his apocalyptic visions owe a debt to Hieronymus Bosch. And his imagination, Fischman says, follows the free flights of Francisco Goya.

Which is how Huerta's works came to be displayed at the UAMA. Fischman and assistant curator Susannah Maurer were looking for a contemporary artist to pair with the second installment of the museum's four-part Goya etchings series. Last spring, works by Tucson rodeo photographer Louise Serpa went up next door to Goya's La Tauromaquia suite of bullfighting prints. This second Goya show, now on view, exhibits 24 etchings from Los Disparates, which the museum translates as "mad and absurd ideas", along with 20 paintings by Victor Huerta Batista. Filled with grotesque monsters, dreamlike phantoms and humans with bats' wings, the nightmare Disparates images are bathed in darkness. Goya worked on these pictures at the end of his life, and scholars have debated whether they represent his fears of death, or his horror at the catastrophic wars of his lifetime, or something else altogether. In any case, the curators thought, rightly, that Huerta's unruly work was a good match. They found his work via the MLA Gallery in Los Angeles, which handles his work and acted as intermediary. Huerta has had some success in Cuba, but this is the first time his extravagant visions have won a museum show in the United States.

"His imagination is unloosed," Fischman says. "He's an artist willing to see where that goes. That's a precedent that Goya set."

Easy instructions, comfortable cushions
Color: Pink
I just put it together and I love it!!! It's so comfortable and it was easy to put together. You can rock it back and forth which helps your back. The seat is very wide and the cushion is thick. Pink is my favorite color, and this chair satisfies my pink obsession.

Wonderful chair
Color: Dark Black
I bought this office chair as a sewing tool, you might say. I felt that having an office chair on wheels would get me from the sewing machine to the ironing board and then to the cutting board and back to the sewing machine. I was having to get up and down to get around to all these places before and this saves me so much time and effort. I’m 71 so when the box came I was hesitant to try to bust into it and put it together but it went together so easily. It’s very comfortable and the lumbar support feels great on my low back. When I first sat down after the assembly process, the chair cushion tipped down in the front but after contacting the support team I was advised to tighten the tilt tension located under the chair and that fixed me right up! All and all, my chair is the perfect addition to my sewing area at a very affordable price. I couldn’t be happier!

Comfortable, affordable, and great for small spaces!
Color: Light Purple, Color: Light Purple
I had previously left a review of two stars, but have since deleted that review after I've owned the chair for a few weeks now. Initially, I stated the chair was uncomfortable and not cushioned at all. But this issue quickly resolved after sitting it for a longer time, it seems the cushion molds to you. So it may be uncomfortable the first few times sitting on it, but it eventually softens. The cushion is now soft yet sturdy. You don't sink in too much, but it's comfortable for sitting for long periods of time. I personally enjoy the mesh back as well, it supports my lower back and doesn't cause back pain. Normally I have to use a cushion of my own to support my lower back for most chairs, but this one actually supports me in a way that doesn't require an extra cushion - so that's really nice. The chair is fairly on the smaller end, which is perfect for low desks or tight spaces, which is exactly what I wanted. The height can be adjusted, but even at the highest setting, it is still fairly low. Keep that in mind - it may not be super comfortable for those over 6 ft. The arms flip up which makes storing it under a low desk very easy. The cushion is thick and very accurate to the picture. I love that it is lightweight and doesn't make much noise when rolling the chair. It also feels very sturdy. Some of the reviews say it feels flimsy, and I don't know if some are just assembling it incorrectly, because for me this thing is very strong and holds up quite nicely under my weight. Overall, this is exactly what I wanted for my personal living space. A chair that's not too bulky, but comfortable enough to sit in for long hours. It functions as advertised for this purpose. One final thing -- the color selection is gorgeous. I bought the light purple color and it fits my setup nicely! Color was accurate to the picture, and looks very cute and adorable in my space.

Surprisingly amazing chair!
Color: Pink, Color: Pink
tl;dr: If you need a chair that has the features of this one, then this one is a winner! Hits above its weight class for sure. My wife is 5’. She’s small. For whatever reason she ended up with a chair made for big people, like 6+ feet and up to 500lbs type of a chair. She’d often even sleep on it and chill on it. The chair was big enough to fit 2 of her to be honest. It was an expensive chair that I won at some raffle and didn’t like myself. Over the years it ripped (got a cover for it) and even started to get lopsided (from the sleeping) and finally a spring broke (hence the pillow on it in the pictures) She obviously lives pink. I also wanted to get a chair where she could work and not end ip asleep on. Not like we have a couch or a bed for that 😂. This chair is very obviously smaller than her previous chair, it’s also significantly cheaper in price and build, it’s also not as durable feeling or stable, and it’s just not as padded. Yet somehow it’s an amazing chair that we both like better than her previous chair??? Like it’s crazy that this chair somehow works better in so many ways. Her desk is modified to be shorter than normal desks (again, she small lol) and her previous chair was just too big. The wheels are also like SUPER smooth, like you can run a chair race easily with it. It rolls over her rug and tucks into her desk (which is in our bedroom) easily. The amount of space this has save us when the chair isn’t being used is a lot. Previous chair was much bigger and didn’t tuck in at all. The color is nice and the padding is plenty for a small and much lighter than 500lbs woman. I’m 6 feet and 200 lbs and the chair is nice for me as well. My chair is bigger and more secure in the backing, which is similar to this one. The lowest tension setting on my chair is still too high for her to lean back on my chair. This chair has a lower tension minimum and she can easily lean back freely, as well as keep enough tension to work without sagging. This chair is surprisingly outstanding! I’m sure my wife will destroy it quicker than the last one, but it’s so cheap that even if it only lasts 1-3 years, I’ll happily buy it ones or twice more 🤷🏽‍♀️. Maybe by then they’ll invent a comfortable titanium chair that’s affordable that she won’t destroy 😂.
