YAMAHA PIANOS

The Yamaha Piano Company is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of pianos. It’s parent company manufacturers almost every instrument in the orchestra in addition to guitars and studio electronics. Yamaha started sending pianos to the United States in the 1960’s first as private label products and then under their own name. Initially there were some severe stability issues with their pianos. In short time they solved those issues and developed a reputation for decent pianos at a very low entry level prices point. (Today that mantle is carried by pianos from companies like Hardman and Ritmuller.) They were able to substantially under sell domestically made pianos . One of the early purchasers of Yamaha pianos in the 1960s was the LA Unified school district. Sadly most of those piano have been moved out, sold or placed on the junk heap because they just did not last back then. If for example the pianos purchased at that time were Baldwin or Steinway, they would still be going or be able to be rebuilt.

Yamaha started in 1887 as a maker of reed organs and in 1890 branched out into pianos helped by a young piano engineer named Koichi Kawai. Mr Kawai went on to found the Kawai Piano Company in 1927. Many people think of Yamaha for the motorcycles and jet skis but the company was founded as a musical instrument maker. Look closely at the Yamaha logo on the motorcycles and you’ll notice it is three interlocking tuning forks. The company’s greatest claim to fame was figuring out how to mass produced good pianos using a production line with conveyor belts. They created this manufacturing model and perfected it over the years. Granted there are some corners cut when doing it this way but the final result is consistent and generally good. Yamaha pianos are known for a bright sound that can cut through other instruments. That is why it is a favorite of many rock and pop performers such as Elton John. (Yamaha W104) as advertised.

Great addition to our home
Model: Model B with Removable Tray
Putting together took a little time but instructions included were easy for me to follow. Putting the screws in for the shelves required a little work to get then started but nothing that I would say would be a problem to do. It is very sturdy and looks great in our room we are transforming into a hangout/bar area. I can't wait to get all my accessories in to add to it and display all my nice bottles I have. Great cart for the price.

My Cart Worked Out Perfectly For Me - Update: I got a second cart
Model: Model B with Removable Tray
Delivered sooner than promised. All pieces were present. All parts were in good condition. Assembly was done by a professional who thought the product was well done and needed very few adjustments. The cart rolls smoothly, is very sturdy, is a great size, looks attractive and is perfect for my needs. I would order one of these again. Update: I did get a second cart and I am just as happy with this second one as I have been with the first one.

Notice it is not real wood!
Model: Model B with Removable Tray
Easy to put together. The biggest complaint is it is not real wood. It looks like it is covered with contact paper!

Great addition to our kitchen. For something we walk by every day it was worth it to get a good quality one like this. Super well made and beautiful wood color in person.

Looks expensive. Wheels could be better.
Model: Model B with Removable Tray
This got RAVE reviews when I wheeled it into a neighbor’s Thanksgiving celebration. The guests thought it was WAY more expensive than I paid. That said, the wheels aren’t all that great; the cart got stuck going into and out of the elevator. I had to lift the cart to get it over the track. But overall, I really like it. One caution. Read the instructions carefully so that the wine racks fit. I didn’t assemble it correctly, and it became apparent when the wine racks would not fit. But I was able to quickly disassemble the necessary sections, and reassemble them quickly.
