Yellow Lupine is a vibrant and adaptable wildflower known for its spires of golden blooms that brighten up dry, sunny landscapes. A member of the legume family, this native lupine species not only enhances the visual appeal of wildflower mixes but also plays a role in enriching the soil through nitrogen fixation. Its upright form and cheerful color make it a popular choice for restoration projects, pollinator gardens, and low-water landscapes across the western United States.
Botanically known as Lupinus densiflorus, this drought tolerant wildflower performs well in sandy, poor, or disturbed soils and thrives in full sun. It typically blooms from late spring into early summer, attracting bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects with its dense flower clusters and nectar-rich blossoms. Easy to grow and fast to establish, Yellow Lupine is often used to stabilize soil in open areas and adds a striking vertical element to wildflower displays.
