Jaguar Head Clay Candle Holder in Smoked Brick is hand-sculpted by Andrea Garcia in Chiapas, Mexico.
What is this made from? Smoked brick clay, unglazed, shaped entirely by hand into the form of a jaguar head. The smoking process darkens the clay and seals the surface without adding anything foreign to the material.
Who made it? Andrea Garcia works in the clay traditions of Chiapas, where hand-building and smoke-firing have been practiced for generations. Each jaguar takes its own form — no molds, no repetition.
Where does it come from? In Mesoamerican tradition, the jaguar is sacred — a symbol of power, night, and royal lineage. The jaguar appears in the iconography of cultures from the Olmec forward. This piece carries that weight in clay.
Holds a taper candle. Wipe clean with a dry cloth.
