🌺 Floral Tisane🦋 Color-Changing☕ Caffeine-Free🌿 Loose Flower

The colour-changing cup — vivid blue flowers that turn magenta with a squeeze of lemon. The Sampson tea shelf's only piece of edible chemistry.

Butterfly Blue Pea (Clitoria ternatea) is a Southeast Asian flowering vine traditionally grown in Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia. The dried buds are used as much for colour as for flavour — they're the natural blue pigment in nam dok anchan, butterfly-pea lemonades, and rice dishes across the region. Steeped alone, the flowers release a deep cobalt-blue infusion.

The trick is the pH shift. Add lemon juice (or any acid) and the anthocyanin pigments rotate through the spectrum — first violet, then magenta, then almost pink. The visual is the primary attraction; the flavour is gentle, slightly earthy, faintly floral. This is a tea you serve to people who haven't seen it before.

🦋

Real Pigment

Anthocyanin colour from the flower itself, no dye

🍋

pH-Reactive

Lemon shifts the cup from cobalt blue to magenta

Zero Caffeine

A flower infusion, not a tea leaf

The Sampson Promise

We only put ingredients in our products that we would use on our own family. Every ingredient has a purpose. If it doesn’t need to be there, it isn’t.

Steep Time

Servings

Tasting Notes

💙

Cobalt First Pour

Aroma

The dry flowers smell faintly green and herbaceous; the brewed cup is what surprises — a deep, saturated blue that doesn't look like food.

🍋

The Magenta Switch

Reaction

Squeeze a quarter-lemon into the warm cup. The infusion shifts through violet, settles at magenta. The change happens in seconds and reverses if the acid dilutes.

🌿

Earthy-Floral Finish

Body

The flavour is mild — closer to a wet hay or alfalfa note than to a perfumed flower. Sweetened or paired with citrus is where the cup actually drinks well.

How to Brew

01

Measure

One heaped teaspoon of dried flowers (about 2g) per 8oz cup. The flowers are light; they take more spoonfuls than you'd think.

02

Boiling Water

Bring water to a full boil. Pour over the flowers in a glass cup or teapot — you want to see the colour develop. The infusion turns blue within 30 seconds.

03

Steep 5 Minutes

Five minutes gives a saturated cobalt blue. Strain into a clean cup. To trigger the colour change, squeeze fresh lemon at the table — the show is part of the cup.

Water

100°C

Time

5 min

Per Cup

1 heaped tsp

Brew strong, let cool, then pour over ice with a slice of lemon balanced on the rim. The drinker stirs and the colour changes — that's the cocktail-style serve.

About the Tea

🦋

Butterfly Pea Flower

The Pigment

Whole dried buds and petals of Clitoria ternatea, a flowering vine native to Southeast Asia. The blue colour is anthocyanin — the same pigment family that gives blueberries and red cabbage their hue.

🍋

Lemon (Optional Partner)

The Trigger

Not in the bag, but central to the cup. Half a lemon's juice rotates the anthocyanin pigments and changes the colour. Lime works the same way; orange does not (not acidic enough).

💧

Glass Vessel

The Stage

Worth using a clear glass cup or teapot. The colour is the point — opaque ceramic hides what makes this tea what it is.

In the tin

Dried butterfly blue pea flowers (Clitoria ternatea).

Origin & Sourcing

Butterfly Blue Pea is harvested from cultivated vines across Thailand and neighbouring Southeast Asian countries, where the flower has been used as a natural food colorant for centuries before the West discovered it. Dried whole-flower grade for the Sampson shelf.

These are definitely indestructible
Size: Medium
Both of my dogs can destroy a ball in a matter of minutes if I let them play with them (supervised) as is. Well not with these balls. They are the ONLY ones I have found that are 100% indestructible. Please only let your dogs play with these as a toy when supervised though. They go really far when throwing them, so both dogs get a good amount of running and exercise with these. I also bought these because they have the hole in the middle of the ball which is very important in the event that a dog gets one stuck at the back of their throat. This allows them to breath unlike those without this hold. It's an unlikely event, but as dog owners, we all need to be aware of this and educate ourselves on what to do if this SHOULD happen. This isn't a scare tactic, nor a reflection of this particular brand, it can happen with any type of ball. My two dogs are about 45ish lbs and the size is perfect for them, I don't want anything smaller than this. They love them. There is no annoying squeak. Really easy to wash after use. Some balls take forever to get the slimy saliva off, but these don't.

I recently purchased Dr. Frederick's Original Moisturizing Heel Socks, and they have truly transformed the condition of my feet! I can’t recommend them highly enough. Effective Moisturization: These socks are infused with moisturizing agents that work wonders. After just a few uses, I noticed a significant reduction in dryness and cracking on my heels. My feet feel softer and smoother, and I love that I can wake up to beautifully moisturized skin. Comfortable Fit: The socks are incredibly comfortable to wear, with a snug yet gentle fit. I appreciate that they don’t feel restrictive, allowing me to walk around my home while wearing them without any discomfort. They are also lightweight, making them easy to slip on before bed. User-Friendly: They are super easy to use—just wear them overnight, and let the socks do their magic. I love the simplicity of incorporating them into my nighttime routine. Durable Quality: The quality of the socks is impressive. They wash well and have maintained their shape and effectiveness after multiple uses. I feel confident that they will last a long time. Final Thoughts: If you're struggling with dry, cracked heels, I highly recommend Dr. Frederick's Original Moisturizing Heel Socks. These worked for me!
Color: Original Grey
They worked great. I bought these for cracked sore heels. It took 2-3 weeks but my heels no longer hurt and the cracks have closed and look more like an indention than a crack now. They feel so much better, but I'll probably wear them another week just to be sure they stay healed. They look and feel like regular socks from the outside but only cover the heel with the toe open. Not think but not thick, again like regular socks. They would probably be slippery on a smooth surface the same as socks. The inside feels like rubber or something smooth at the heel. I have washed them once each pair and accidentally dried one pair in the dryer. They still seem to feel the same so I think they're fine. They're pretty inexpensive and had different colors and sizes.

Truly Helped My Cracked Heels
Color: Original Grey
I didn't include a photo cause they look exactly like their advertisement photo. I so liked the silicon-type heel lining as it kept the heel-repair cream on my heel and did not get soaked up by the sock. But, it is so, so slippery when walking around in them! Take care to be mindful when you set each foot down as the lotion can slide your heel across the sock quite a bit. If these socks were for an elderly person, I would have them only sit while using the sock - no walking around for fear of falling. I have larger ankles and found that having both the top and the bottom hems/elastic, etc. the same size to be quite troublesome and was not a nice feeling or fit on my upper hem that hit my ankle. Don't get me wrong, I am so glad that I got them and I continue to use them and they are helping my horribly-cracked heels greatly, but I find that I have to keep moving the top hem up and down so that it doesn't stay in one position as it cuts in to my ankle. My feedback and advice might be to please make the upper hem somewhat larger than the one that is on the bottom and goes over my actual foot. They really should not be the same circumference...or else make different sizes - S, M, L, etc. That's really my only complaint or "con" to ordering these. I think they are a great concept and I like the fact that I can throw them in the washer and dryer.
